played Semi-pro after JC for a season - realized coaching is better. and i still play rugby in the off season with the local club here. maybe it is the level, maybe the contact at the team USA level is that much more intense. but sometimes, i think the media, fans, and even coaches, overstate the contact in this game. Without coming off as a condescending pr!ck, it really is different once the heat is turned up (games and competitive practice drills) at the higher levels. Obviously it is physically possible, but the quality of play and the safety of the players will suffer. And wouldn't that be a negative to many, particularly coaches, who enjoy the current football process?

if we put together a national team in baseball we would wreck everyone as well... We have already, no? World Baseball Classic I think was best team we could put together, and we lost. I don't think we've medaled as a matter of fact, not even in the medal round in 2013. Sadly we put together a team but none of our best stars are playing due to them choosing to spend time with the family or not willing to risk injury OR just don't see/feel motivation to play in the WBC. Frustrates me sometimes cuz if it was me, I'd play in a heart beat... but can you blame them?

Which players in which game? And Olympic basketball is far from the "joke" it was in 1992. International guys that year were more interested in photos and smiles, players now are focused on winning and being competitive, which has happened. the game you put up and the player you said played in that game. When the Our stars show up to play, Olympic basketball is a joke. I didn't put up any game...here nor there, I've made my point with examples, and you just keep repeating yourself no matter what's said so I'll just get back to the football WC. If it is so distasteful and terrible then no need to participate in the thread.

The WBC is played when the MLB has spring training so I'd think it'd be a no different/a positive if our best players played, they'd get the added benefit of the games meaning something as opposed to it being 3-5 inning warm-up for the season (for starters anyway)

Not tom completely go way off the thread topic but just a random thought, high school always does 7v7, how cool would it be if the NFL had a summer 7v7 passing league?

It would be cool, I just wonder how many starters would sign up for it and what would the OL/DL do in the meantime

And on that note I think that this thread has officially gone as far as it can.
