There are lots of coaches I'd love to get a beer with and talk football, team building, leadership.
But the real question is: Which coach do you want to have *ten* beers with?

There are so many it's hard to choose just one. Lombardi & Bryant would probably top the list. There are a bunch I'd love to sit down with for pure entertainment value; Leach, Kill, Spurrier all come to mind.

Growing up a Houston Oilers fan ... would have loved to sit down with Bum Phillips and have a few beers. And today there are so many, but I would have to go with Pete Carroll and Chip Kelly ... also from the stories online, sounds like Dana Holgorsen would be good times!

Interesting that Nick Saban's name hasn't been mentioned once on here ... he seems so warm and fuzzy! Wondering what the film room was like post OSU game with him and Lane?

Art Briles-was able to hear him speak at NOY clinic in Vegas a while back. What a great story and seems to be a stand up guy. HOw did you persevere through so much? Also, Bear Bryant-just to talk football would be great!

Definitely NOT Kliff Kingsbury. I want there to be at least one woman in the place looking at me.

Yes defensively Bama struggled but ol Lane didn't help the D with his playcalling ... #27 averaged over 8 yards a carry and only touched it 13 times ... are you kidding me??!!

But let's get back to hanging with coaches we would like to have a beer with ... I was able to listen to Spike Dykes and Joe Tiller speak at clinics ... both are great storytellers and both could coach some ball!

That's pretty much what we do as oppose to going to bar. But we don't stay up all night. Like Fantom said, old guys don't recover so well.

Our staff is too old for it. Our old guys out drink the younger guys and need no sleep. lol. But we are a bunch of roughnecks. There was this one time..... We get with other staffs and get way more info than from the regular clinic. Rooster

It sounds bad, but I think you can really get a lot out of this for professional development. You'll get considerably more than drawing up schemes and explaining a technique. Whether it is at a clinic hotel room or a team camp dorm/hangout.....just spending time with other seasoned coaches having a good time. The talk revolving around football is often better than actual football talk. I suppose my point being, big tymers like Saban, Bellichick, whoever are nice....but there are a lot of career position coaches that have been around at various levels (and who are available) to spend time with

Some of the best time I've spent at football clinics is sitting around with other coaches talking about football but not necessarily Xs and Os.

John Wristen at CSU Pueblo. Former CU, UCLA assistant coach, got the HC job at CSU in 2007. Had no program, no stadium, no nothing, first game was 2008, and just won the DII national championship. Got to have some ideas on organization, building from nothing to champs, player evaluation, how to plan for success and then execute.

Dead: Woody Hayes, Bo, or George allen Alive: Tom Cable Am fortunate to have graduated from and currently coach oline at Tom cable's alma mater. Great guy very gracious with giving time to his former school has helped me a ton as a coach. It's normal to me being from the same town but he is very intense. Along with coach cable kieth Gilbertson Jr , Denny Schuler, Brent Ingalls and Nick Danilson at Utah also are alumni. Pretty amazing for a little town in nw washington.

I am fascinated with small offensive lines. Supposed he has the smallest in the NFL, so he is definitely somebody I would interested in talking to.

I had a beer or few with cqmiller and someone else from huey at the CFCA, the place was too loud and I couldn't hear his screen name. Sucks I could only stay saturday night, but it was a good time. We had way more than one beer coach... we lost you, your HC didn't know where he was, and we weren't allowed back in the bar after we went to find food. It was chaos. Great time. Awesome to put some faces with some names. Been hanging out with guys all weekend... hopefully we have one more get together of Huey guys.
