Just got our tentative summer practice calendar, and the amount we are scheduled for per week is more than double what I have done anywhere else. Thought I'd check here to see what others are doing, maybe we are on par with the rest of you.

1.5 hours of weight room and speed work. Everything over that is for "fun" and keeping them wanting to get there.
We go four days a week, early mornings so they don't miss out on their beach and pool time or job time.

First week of June off because it's their first week of summer. First week of July off for the fourth. First week of August off. Three days a week in June, four in July, five in August. Every day ends up being about two hours. So, six hours a week in June, eight in July, ten in August.

I'd say about 12. 3 hours a day. 4 days a week. Week after school is out, week of the 4th, and week of the state coaches clinic off. This is just the time with kids doesn't count mowing, field work etc...

Always begin strength and speed first week after school is complete ... so if last day is a Thursday ... we begin that first Monday of break. M, T, W, Th ... 90-120 minutes workouts (6-8 hours/week). For us it's seven weeks or 28 total of summer workouts ... 2 passing league dates on Saturday, one in June and one in July (6 total games, an hour per game) and then our 3 day camp (M, T, W) in July (3 hours per camp day).
And then beginning last year, we give them the last week off before first official practice to plan a family vacation or just rest & relax and get away from each other before it all kickoffs and then hopefully together again for another 16 straight weeks, 6 days a week.

We ask an hour three times a week for lifting and I believe we are going to do 2.5 hours of field work one night a week. So a normal week will be around 6 hours when its all said and done. We are also going to do two four day camps and those weeks will be around 15 hours.

We are scheduled every Monday through Thursday from 9:30--11:30 a.m. First hour is weight lifting, second hour is on the field, although many times that hour on the field will end up being more like 40-45 minutes. We'll have a total of 2-3 7 on 7s mixed in there too.

An average week, with no camps or 7on7s (we only play 2-3) we ask our kids to be there for 4 1/2 to 5 hours total for the week. 2 1/2 hours on Monday- an hour of lifting 1 1/2 hours of field work, an hour of lifting on Wed and an hour on Thursday.
We go hard as heck while we're here, but we try to be here as little as possible. They want a break and time away from school and so do us coaches. We, as crazy as this sounds, attempt to let kids be kids. Football should not be their entire lives or summer.

I should also say the 4 1/2 to 5 hours is on the high side. Sometimes our Mondays only end up being around 1 1/2 to 2 hours long.

Monday-Thursday 9-11, 7on7 5 Thursday during June/July 5-6.
We're out of school June 4th, first lift June 10th. Off July 3rd for the 4th weekend.
We usually lift for an hour and run for an hour. 2 years ago we split groups and rotated. We will do that this year.

We have on the field work outs 3 times a week for 2 hours in July. We are allowed to wear shells during the summer so we do to get everything going. Then our wonderful state association decided the players need a "heat acclimation" period so now we have to go Wed/Thrs/Fri before the Monday that doubles start or you are not allowed full pads for the first three days of doubles because I guess when they are working out for a month on the field those 3 days will do a lot to get them ready.

Monday - Thursday 8am until up to noon. Lift, speed/agility, chalk, 7on7 practice or competition. 10 7on7 competitions per summer. Plus coaches cutting grass and working on facilities. The "future/former head" coach types and the OC/DC/HC usually put in an average of 20 hours a week.

Usually about 5 hours a week. 1 hour per day four days a week to lift and run in the morning so they can make it to work if they need to. Maybe an 1 hour per week to throw and run routes. 4th of July week off. During July we have camp 5 days for 2 hours a piece.

But, what are you guys doing to get an extra 14 hours of work in per week?

I actually changed it. It was a typo. Trying to hit 2 and hit 3, so it should have been 20. Although the more I did the math...we would be there with kids 16 hours and then we would cut all playing surfaces and the perimeters of the fields, hills, banks, etc. Playing surface cut every other day. Perimeter once a week. We also have to get out and sell advertising, host a golf tournament, host youth camps, etc. So 20 is probably a little low for many weeks. 20-25 is normal. If we go out of town for a tourney you may be looking at a 40+ hour week.

And of course, you've got to paint the practice field weekly.

June: lift MWF. 45-60 minutes each session. Nothing else in June. (about 3 hours per week)
July: add 30 minute speed/agility to each workout. (about 4.5 per week)
Last week of July we have camp. 4 nights for 2 hours each night. No helmets/pads (8 hours that week). we do our fundraiser during camp week also.
No formal 7 on 7.

Guess I should've been more specific. That's the amount of time we allot. Includes dynamic warm up, static cool down, water breaks, changing shoes to cleats or vice versa (10 minute halftime)

Lift on 45 minute stations 3 times a week. We do agility or small group or Indy during the rotation with the lifting. Then do 1 hour of practice. So we do about about 2.5 hours 3 times a week. We do a lot of 7 on 7 on Saturdays on top of that.

In KY we have a state mandated Dead Period for all sports..basically the last week of june and the first week of July. Official start of "practice" is July 15th (you can bring balls out starting Jan 1 up until that time, just cant have any gear on other than your spring practice dates). Once school is out...we just go Twice a week....Tues/Thurs...6PM-8:30. Usually about half/half (lift/speed/condition coninuation from the last couple months of school) and then 'practice'. Hour...hour and 15 of each. (hour 15 of practice, hour 15 of lift+run). We split the kids up in groups and flip flop after that first hour or so...linemen and the skirt wearers. As for 7v7 vs other schools, we cant start that until after the "Dead Period". We open the season next to last or last weekend in August. Some use the next to last as their "Open"/2nd scrimmage. Those that open up the next to last weekend (this year for us is Sat, Aug 23) only get one scrimmage the week before. For what it's worth, we are just going 3 days a week once our dead period is over up until August 4th (I would say August 1st, but this year that falls on a Friday and we started a thing a couple years back where we don't practice on Fridays. We don't during the season, so why worry about the 3-4 Friday's before school starts.)

We have Conditioning Workouts M-W-F throughout Summer. Takes us about an hour each with our numbers.
We have a three-day camp (8:30 am-Noon) last week in July.
If I can find another school close by to get together for couple informal (non-competitive) 7-on-7s we'll do those too.
When I coached at larger school workouts took more like 90 minutes.
Our camp was 9 am-3 pm (we served them lunch on site).
We did an out-of-town camp too where we got three days of 7-on-7s (six 'games').
But that was before Pay to Play, too.

I'm on an 11 month contract. With that being said I'll go 4 hours per day, Monday through Wednesday, 8 a.m. to 12 a.m. Two sessions of speed and strength camp for six weeks. I don't have to go all six weeks but my son will be there so I might as well be there.

What is the difference between "field work" and "practice prep, game prep, etc."?
