IL has a state tournament series for almost all junior high sports, but not for freshmen or JV sports. Kind of funny how you get used to things, I guess. When I typed that, it didn't even occur to me that not all states would have junior high postseasons.

The announcers at any televised game.
Every running play is zone read. If a service academy game every play is triple option, even the rocket sweep. Or they call trap option counter option.
Shouldn't the people broadcasting the games actually know something about the sport?

"Coach, we just need to keep a positive attitude and we will be alright."
said by former head coach when losing 60-0 in the 3rd quarter

"Coach, we just need to keep a positive attitude and we will be alright." said by former head coach when losing 60-0 in the 3rd quarter He probably meant "alright" in the longer-range, cosmic sense.

A thread in the Offensive section reminded me of the time we went on a college visit and a GA got a little tongue-tied. That led to this life changing advice, "You've gotta play to win, not to lose."

We got up on a team by more than 50 in the first quarter this season (no, I'm not making this up). After the game, one of their coaches was heard to say "Those guys {censored} cheat. They were writing down our plays and formations up in the press box."
Yes, charting plays is cheating and it led to 3 pick sixes and a forced fumble in the first quarter.
