Ive seen both sides of this, more from what coachdoug talks about than the other, thank goodness. Had a player for me in 2003 who caught 11 TD passes, never dropped a single pass. The previous year he had only caught 3-4 TDs. His dad was the coach the previous year and he didnt want to appear to be playing favorites- obviously dad liked it better when I was coaching Jr than him, Jrs talents were VERY obvious and had very little to do with my coaching.

Can he run Zone Read? If so send him to Charlotte. I will also work on R4 with him. Heck I don't have a player to trade. How about a 19 y/o College student, I could throw in a weimaraner or 2.

I live by my own inner motto " would a stranger watching this practice or game know which player is my son?" I can go to many prctice fields and pick out the "son" within seconds.

YES....this is a great standard to go by. Although I did say that I was harder on my son than anyone else, which is a mistake on my part as a coach, I really feel, that in exception to that 3 minutes per game/practice, NO ONE could tell which boy was mine.

My 8 year old son told all my Coaching friends that I said he has to play RB this season. I didnt find out till dinner the other night while sitting there with one of them lol. I have never had that conversation with him, in fact I was pretty sure he would be back at Linebacker again. Dont think he is ready or has the field vision to be in the backfield yet, maybe next season.
Question is where did this come from? Is it possible he dreamed this conversation up? He told me about 2 weeks prior he wanted to tryout for RB, my reply was thats great son lets see how training camp goes and we will go from there. Thats a far cry from "has to" in my books.

He goes to your mom and says "Mom, I am gonna go do _____. Dad said it was ok".
