My question to this has always been what about the stuff you don’t run or the things that are essentially the same play but have certain parts that are different

Last two places I’ve been we washed everday.
First place we we washed all your practice gear everyday. Jerseys, girdles, practice pants. We put them in trash cans and you knew your jersey number and you had it written in the waist band or tag for pants and girdles. We wouldn’t wash other cloth.
The school I’m at now we also wash everyday. We have laundry loops and we will wash your practice gear and shorts or shirts if you put it on the loop. Practice gear is expected to be put out everyday the other is on you. Put your shorts and shirt on a loop or take it home.

The best way might be to just suggest that. Just say something like we will come back in and give you a chance to add layers I wouldn't wear a lot to pre game if it was me. That way it just minimizes the nonsense that gets told to parents which is never the whole story.

I don’t know if this is an option for you but we basically worked out something very similar with a local screen printing company.

In Alabama it varies widely. Single school city systems pay the most multi school county systems the least. I think most county systems are between $2500-4000 and cities might be same range or as high as $6,000 a small handful give an extra $500 or $1,000 for a coordinator or in some cases assistant head coach.

So tonight at the end of a close win we go in our victory formation to take a knee. So we snap the ball and 3 OL take a knee, 1 never moves, and the other guy takes a pass set. Never seen anything like it in my life. Also all 5 were our starting OL. Remember what the Marines say ("The 6 P's"): "Prior Preparation Prevents Piss Poor Performance"!!! As stated earlier in the thread we practice it every Thursday and had done it earlier in the year correctly our kids just apparently lost their minds. Copy/Paste snazzy comment/quote/info from someone famous.

Coaches wash practice stuff and game stuff. We wash everyday. 2 guys are supposed to get it started before we leave. Usually get 1 washed and in the dryer and another started before we leave. Then it's send an aide to change it over and start another load or go yourself if you have another planning besides last period.

1. Weight Room 2. Seven Man Sled 3. Full Pads. Every. Single. Day. I agree with the first part whole heartedly. Being bigger and stronger leads to confidence which leads to physicality. I would also add in being in great shape. Nothing clouds your thinking and makes you soft like being tired. The 3rd one is the one I might disagree with. The 2 most physical teams on our schedule one has been in full pads twice, the first day allowed and the 3rd day, and hasn’t been in them since and the other doesn’t go full pads once the season starts. Both of them do go shells, 3 days a week for 1 and 2 days a week for the other. Both of these teams are extremely physical. I wouldn’t question the fact that these 2 would be among the top 5 or top 10 at worst, most physical teams in our classification. One is a perennial winner and the other has started winning with a new coach. One thing both of these programs believe in is an extensive strength program and have very good summer strength and conditioning programs.

Never assume kids know what to do and practice every detail. If you have, then you have learned a great truth. Kids can do stupid stuff even when taught properly. LOL We practice it every Thursday. Everyone step forward make sure no one murders the QB. Even did it in a game 2 weeks ago and no one took a knee they just stood there cuz defense was doing the same. Last night they just went crazy I guess.

We use max preps. It has a paper form so you keep up with it as you go. Ex tally marks for tackles and on offense you keep track of each run and then just add it up at the end.

We don't meet formally during the offseason. A couple of us might talk here or there. During season we meet every sunday at 2. How long we are ther varies offense is usually done by 4:30-5 and defense by 5:30-6.

It's the worst. It's just hurry up and wait. I have to lock myself in the other coaches office and turn off the lights and attempt to sleep. It's best for me and the other coaches and players for me not to be around anyone haha. I'm not fit to be around from the time we finish eating until we kick off. I'm wound way too tight.

I don't give my sub any real teaching to do or a movie. I just leave a ton of work they can't possibley finish and tell them I'm taking it up for a grade when I get back. I'll just give them a daily grade when I come back if they did it or not. I do that in hopes they will have so much to do hopefully the sub will keep them halfway quiet so the principal doesn't have to come to my room while I'm out.

I can't stand for subs to move stuff around in my room. Im not the neatest but I know this stack of papers on this corner is football stuff that stack on the other corner is make up work etc. I had a sub come in clean everything off my desk and put it in just one big stack. It took me 2 weeks to get back organized.

We run our scout team with cards drawn up. As DC I make those. I have each skill position colored. It's not what position are you it's you're green you're red etc. we don't hammer those guys for not blocking or executing unless they don't do anything close to what's on the card or just don't even try. We have a guy who runs the scout O and he's does a great job gets them in and out of the huddle quick. He swears if you get them in and out quick they look better cuz they aren't taking their time or trying to talk and it works. Anything too complicated he will talk it out with the ones he has to. I run the scout D and tell them you wanna play for me and I'm over here looking specifically so I can find players. Either starters, rotation guys, or special teams guys cuz I learned they can make a tackle. I found 3-4 guys who helped us on D this way including figured out our undersized DL was a heck of a LB but had always been a DL. Looking same thing on scout O looking for guys who can help us. Like that slot wr who it turns out runs the ball really hard much harder than we thought he would. I make a depth chart for both scout teams. I pick guys on offense who vaguely match the other teams offense and on D I Put guys where I want them to get reps even though it isn't exactly our system or where I want to see if they can play. I then try and coach up the scout D as much as possible. I figure out who I think is on the edge and watch them more and coach them up. Example is the DL from above I coached him up and taught him how to play LB. then I will go home and watch practice film and see if anyone I missed played well or a kid that's developing. Like that 10th grader who wasn't ready early but is starting to figure it out. Anyone who doesn't film practice I would suggest you do. We don't do anything fancy we just film the team sessions and we do it with an iPad. We have a young coach stand behind the starting O or D and film it straight into hudl so it doesn't take long at all to upload. That way I go home spend 15-20 min looking at what our D is doing things I missed techinque I can fix. As much as possible I show the kid the film and say here's what you did and how to fix it. Much better than just telling them now I can show him. Then I'll real quick look for scout team guys who might could help us.
