I've heard a lot of negative stuff about Gamepass (mostly on the twitter verse) - not working, choppy picture ect. Have you guys had success with it? Seems like a moderately expensive investment if it doesn't really work all the time. Isn't it only like $40 or $50?

I hear your frustrations. We have to jump through a bunch of red tape to get the Friday off work. The info needs to be provided to our board several weeks in advance for approval. Notre Dame appears to be tentatively set to April 20th - 22nd, but no speaker line up provided yet. www.und.com/footballcoachesclinic/nd-footballcoachesclinic.htmlThanks. It really is a joke. I know they're primarily worried about recruiting right now but it's not like it takes any time to have the hot student multimedia intern put it on the website.

From my experiences most colleges really, really suck at making information available for their coaching clinics in a timely fashion. I've gone to the websites of several colleges looking for information and can't find a damn thing. Every site I went to they still had their 2016 camp information up. But, I did find some info for the 2008 Ole Miss coaches clinic led by Houston Nutt. If anyone is interested, DM me and I'll send you the link.
Please post links and info you may find about college coaching clinics in this thread.

Reading this, I noticed I have some similar issues (constantly thinking about work, not comfortable relaxing, sh!tty sleep, etc.) How do you take care of yourself, stay balanced, and keep some things in perspective? Here is the article if anyone is interesting in reading it: thelab.bleacherreport.com/i-m-not-the-lone-wolf/

You're going to sit in an office and talk ball on a family vacation?
Oh yeah, you said you'll be visiting your in-laws.

I heard him at the Auburn clinic last year. It was not very good. He mentioned multiple times that he had little idea what was on the presentation and that his GA put it together. He showed video of Baylor running routes on air in practice for 10 minutes. Riveting stuff. Maybe some of the Texas guys can weigh in a little more or even correct me if the information I heard is incorrect, but I heard they are pretty tight on things as far as letting coaches come to spring practice and talking ball. I don't want to slander Art Briles, just passing along second hand information and sharing my experience of hearing him speak.

Yeah, Briles is obviously an exceptional football coach. I thought he was a less than exceptional speaker. As said above, he had some good motivational sayings but that was about it. My takeaway was that the facemelter saves programs (which we all know isn't true). I heard him at the Auburn clinic last year. It was not very good. He mentioned multiple times that he had little idea what was on the presentation and that his GA put it together. He showed video of Baylor running routes on air in practice for 10 minutes. I'm sure what HS coaches in the southeast think about his clinic speaking is pretty low on the list for him.

If the search feature didn't remind me of Netscape Alta Vista via 1998 then I'd be willing to use it more. It sucks, really bad.

Never heard of him or don't remember interacting with him, but we should all be thankful for him being a good ambassador of our great game and prayers to his family.

I know I may get my pee-pee slapped for pimping this on here, but Google Chrome with ad block is life changing. Just turn off your ad blocker when visiting Huey I'm on Chrome. Do you have ad block installed?

Kick a minority kid off your team and you'll hear back from the DOJ immediately. Hell, Eric Holder will probably even knock on your door.

We're looking to chop some time off of our summer workouts. Right now, here is what our schedule looks like.
7:30-8:00- Group 1 Lift, Group 2 Conditioning/Core, Group 3 Agility/Athletic Development 8:00-8:30- rotate 8:30-9:00- rotate 9:00-9:15- transition to field 9:15-9:45- Football specific- varsity offense/JV defense 9:45-9:50- water 9:50-10:20- football specific- varsity defense/JV offense 10:20-10:30- announcements
3 hours is a little long at times in the summer, but unfortunately that's what our game has become. Anything you see we could consolidate or chop? The issue is that our weight room can only lift around 30 kids comfortably, so we have to divide into 3 groups (have around 90 kids total with freshman)

...."scaffold" your practice meaning build from the bottom up and piggyback meaning each session builds to the next. Isn't that how practically everybody teaches practically everything? There are some bad football coaches out there, man. Especially ones that don't do it for a living. I don't think this is something you should just assume is done at the youth football or middle school level.

3) Scaffolding Practice- individual, group, team- each periods piggybacks off of the previous one I'd better get to that clinic, because I don't know what scaffolding or piggybacking means in this context, though apparently Mahonz does. Have you purchased a copy of lochness book "Universal Terminology of Football"? It's in there.

bluboy- thanks, I'll reach out to my staff and get a few ideas
Fantom- that's exactly what my head coach recommended. His son plays youth ball and said every drill is like a lecture.

I posted this in the Youth section but I know some of you never venture over there.
I was asked to speak at a buddy's clinic he is hosting for youth coaches. I can choose my topic and have decided to speak on practice organization. Right now, here is what I have in mind. Any help/guidance you guys could give me would be especially helpful.
1) Google Docs- how to use them to effectively set up a practice schedule and collaborate (I figured this would be beneficial to youth coaches since most of them never get a chance to meet during the day)
2) Structuring a practice for maximum efficiency (circuits, half line, etc). Maybe you guys can give me some ideas on ways to do this with limited numbers and coaches?
3) Scaffolding Practice- individual, group, team- each periods piggybacks off of the previous one
I'm pretty much looking for ideas and help on what you feel youth coaches would benefit from.

Just heard Mike Cooper of Clovis HS (CA) and Gunter Brewer of UNC. Cooper had the most energy of I've ever seen from a clinic speaker. It was fantastic. Brewer was extremely entertaining.

This certainly looks like the type of place that will send those former music teacher turned administrators into your classroom to bother you and tell you how you suck at your job. Be careful.
Congrats

Prioritize and delegate, as much as possible. Do you have an assistant coach you can trust to run the leadership program? Get some teacher only to run the academic club?
Assign a coach to track grades, assign a coach to organize community service things, etc

Coaches, We were informed this week that there is a good possibility our superintendent will require all coaches to attend professional learning communities every Wednesday from 2:30-4:45 every week this next year. Has anyone encountered anything like this? If so, how have you handled this and what advice can you share? Public education!!!!!!!!!! They're requiring 2 hours past your contract time every frikkin week? I'd be surprised if that stuck. Do you have an active teachers union where you are? If so, they gotta be fighting this tooth and nail. That seems quite excessive. We have our PLCs every Monday morning for 45 minutes as the start of school is pushed back. Maybe you can cut manipulate your schedule to where Wednesday is the shortest practice of the year and go from 5-6:15 or so? Or, bring in the kids on Saturday mornings or Sunday evenings to get a practice in and take Wednesdays off. Do you have any non-teaching coaches that could so certain things with them while you and others were not there?
