Jerry campbell
Doesn't matter the topic or if it's relevant to your current O or D The man is a speaker So much energy and passion
No dozing off or texting during this one though He is all over his audience so you better pay attention
You'll exit the room a better human being I heard him last year in reno Didn't borrow anything from him in terms of Xs and Os but took away some things from HOW he coaches

I have always thought Kerry Coombs from Ohio State was the best speaker I have seen. Saw him at the Glazier Cincy when he was with Cincinnati talking on DB's, next year at OHSCA in Columbus on ST, both times he was off the charts with energy and great info. Saw him last year and you could tell he was in a hurry, but still a terrific clinic speaker.
One of the best bets is to find a guy who isn't the marquee coach. Did this a couple of years ago with a Big Ten coach. When he was done, Brady Hoke was speaking in the main room, and we were leaving one of the smaller conference rooms. Somebody asked him another question and he asked if anybody wanted to stick around and do some chalk talk type of stuff. About 5 or 6 of us stayed and for an hour and a half we had one of the more informative classroom sessions I have ever been involved in. He would have us draw up how we covered certain things, everybody would chime in...it was great.

Andrew Coverdale is awesome. I've seen him a lot, although he is not in my area this year. He also shares all of his ppts for free and will respond to email questions.

Anyone familiar with these coaches that will be at the Charlotte, NC, Glazier in two weeks:
Mickey Lineberger (South Point), Caleb King (Havelock), Chad McGehee (North Cobb), Glen McNew (Morgantown), Charles Davis (Riverdale).
They are all speaking on some topics that interest me.

jg78I've heard McNew before talk about the Wing T. Very good speaker. Talked with him over the phone a few times and exchanged numerous emails. Great person and very knowledgeable.

Dick Vermeil/Sid Gilman on the passing game. Milt Tenopir/Frank Solich on the Nebraska offense. If you fell asleep on George DeLeone you had to be on quaaludes. I don't think I ever saw an NFL OL coach who wasn't good.

If you go to any nfl oline guys be ready to sweat if you sit on the front row or on the aisle.

I can't think of anyone specific, but let me just say I've enjoyed listening to just about every oline coach I've heard. I'm biased as an oline guy, but you've got to love those guys. They are always no BS and funny as hell. I'm sure there are exceptions, but I've always had good ones. Wish I could go to the C.O.O.L. clinic someday!

Yes cool clinic is the real deal.. In 1998 I was a young 25 year old college online coach and went to the cool clinic.. Sat in the front row for like 6 hours and wrote down a whole legal pad worth of notes from Jim McNally the legendary Oline nfl coach. Great, great speaker and presenter. I have seen him a few other times and he is awesome!!!!

JG78, I use to coach in NC so am familiar with Mickey Lineburger. I dont know what type of speaker he is, but he is well known for the triple option particularly the outside veer. Always a top contender for a state title. Same thing with Caleb King from Havelock. Haven't heard him speak but I have heard his HC Jim Bob Bryant speak. The have a nice program and the HC from Havelock is a great speaker and very open about what they do at Havelock. Hopefully, King will be the same.

Best clinic speaker I have ever heard is Gus Bradley of the Jaguars. He spoke at the NDSU clinic when he was DC at Seattle. Great passion - he had everyone in the room fired up together with great information.

Coombs is definitely one of the best, remember listening to him when he was a HS coach, and still like to hear him speak. Also got to second Darlington and Murphy.

I heard McNally once as well and hence the "dont sit on the front row or aisle" suggestion. He was awesome too.

Blaise Winter is awesome for defensive line. I need to echo the front row comment. He will beat the daylights out of someone when he demonstrates.

I saw Blaise last year, he was demonstrating his technique on a pillar and punched a hole in the wall! Funniest thing I ever saw at a clinic and I will go to him any time he is on the bill.

OK, giving away my age. Buck Nystrom was by far THE BEST clinic speaker I ever saw. You dare didn't sit in the front row of one of his talks!
But…lately I had given up on attending clinics until this past weekend. Much to my dismay…I found nothing much had changed. New places, new faces, but the S.O.S. Large school HS guys who don't teach, have 10 paid VARSITY assistants who teach a few PE classes, indoor facilities, on-campus stadiums, 5,000 sq. ft. weight rooms, athletic periods, 200 kids in the program, strictly two-platoon, a budget most D3 schools would kill for, and administrators willing to pay for it all, speaking to mostly large school HS guys with the same resources. I've coached in small high schools for most of my career so I can honestly say I have nothing in common with those guys except the title "football coach". OR, it's been a clinic with the major college guys speaking to everybody and trying hard to sell their own programs (which most of us can't identify with any way!).
One of these days one of these big national clinics will start showing some love to those of us who truly know what it's like to be a high school football coach.

Mike Cooper from Clovis West HS in California and Vince Suriano from the University of Cincinnati were great speakers at the Nashville Glazier Clinic. Cooper was very detailed in Run-Pass combos and pairing of run game checks and was the most engaging speaker with the audience I've ever seen. Suriano made his presentation very relevant for High School coaches because he spoke of his many years coaching in high school instead of trying to make plugs about the greatness of Cincinnati's schemes.

I work down the hall from Bob Wylie and I've been with him at practice, but seeing him at a clinic last weekend was a whole new level.

There are plenty of small school speakers over the years at these.
