How do some of you coaches teach your QBs to read coverages such as MOFO, MOFC, but especially in reading blitz. Has anyone heard of the reading the triangles created by the safeties, OLB, and Corners? I know my college coach taught something in regard to this, but not exactly sure what the specifics where.

Teaching your QB is a tricky business. Make sure you're giving him tools that HE is going to be able to use. Common sense rules would include...
Find the Free Safety. Look at Corner (and FS) depth and position (inside/outside) Is anyone uncoverd! Watch reaction to motion or shifting. Can OLB cut off slant/inside routes
The rest will depend on your QB's grasp of your offense, your team's schemes, and what type of defenses you typically encounter.

we start with "one high/ two high/no high" and what this means in terms of coverage based on a scouting report of what the team has shown.

There is always the alternative too... read progressions. Don't worry about what the defense is doing...give him two /three progressions. Look at him first, then him, then him, then run.

meeting with him and giving him the likely coverages you'll see based on your formations and then go through the progression...as a former qb this helped me...see it on the board, then get as many reps as possible.....if you have a lot of 7 on 7 stuff and time in the summer this is where this can be accomplished...incorporate blitzs into the picture as you go (audibles, your plays best designed to beat blitzes)...

we teach ours to look straight ahead, open or closed feild, open means no one in front, cover two look, closed is one in the middle could be cover 3 or 1 free, we go from the middle then scan each side to pick up the edges and try to get a read, we also have WR yell in the look they think they are seeing as well, that can be a problem with crowd noise.
