How many do you have?
How do you use them in the off-season?
How much did you pay?
Thanks,
Throwtherock

Thanks, Throwtherock two; any one that could possibly/realistically catch a ball in a game stays stationary 10-20 yards from the machine and catches 50 balls every time we lift; inherited it from last coach so I don't know

Depends on what you are looking for...went to the DFW clinic and one of the schools requires the wr's to catch 15,000 balls between Jan and July They use this tennis ball machine below for one of their stations: ![](http://www.opentip.com/images/full/LOB/LOB-EL02.jpg) Sorry pic did not show up earlier Lobster Elite 2 Ball Machine You can buy cheaper....this costs a pretty penny but I just saw what he was using... I would steal or borrow from the Tennis Coach

Great Question!
I am investigating them right now and will buy one by the end of the month. I think that the advantages of catching a small ball throw at speed are evident. I am leaning towards one that rotates so that I can get lateral movement out of teh athletes as well. The possibilities are endless.

Do they have a football version or just tennis? The ones that most baseball teams use at pitching machines work for football too. Maybe your AD and/or boosters could put together funds between the baseball team and football to buy one.

4 Stations: 1- Jug Machine 2- Tennis Ball Machine 3- ![](http://www.sportsgoons.com/Images/volume3/3_36/montanarz.gif) Something simlar to this but could be tied to fence or weight room equipment 4- Reaction Ball ![](http://www.betterhockeyplayer.com/files/1598044/uploaded/Goalie%20Reaction%20Ball.jpg) They rotated through....and kept track through spreadsheet coach had only 80% of what they did counted though

Juggs Machine shoots footballs.... Reaction balls....the idea is that if you can catch small sized objects that bounce in all different directions you will be able to catch a football which is much larger Its all about hand eye coordination

What are some of the coaching points when having players catch tennis balls?
You certainly won't find kids catching THESE balls with their body.

GREAT CATCH Here is one the best receiver aids I have seen. We bought 2 Dozen pairs before the season and it forces the kids to catch the football with the fingers and not the palm. (i.e. "soft hands") www.greatcatch.org/Please he is a local Louisiana boy.
