What are the best footballs to use with a Jugs machine. We are getting a Jugs and I heard that they really tear up the footballs. Should I get Synthetic Footballs or use the regular footballs?

When I had a jugs we just used what we had, GST's. They do get scuffed up a bit I would use older balls if you have them the new ones tend to come out kind of funny and do get beat up more than older ones.

We use rubber balls from Baden - about $6.00 each and we have ones that are 4 years old.

We use the oldest crappiest balls in the bag, put them in a seperate bag (so they are only used for juggs), and throw them out only when they don't hold air anymore. I figure, if you can catch a crappy ball with no grip from a juggs machine, you can catch anything.

Agreed. It chews up balls. We bought some cheapy rubber ones (Wilson) that seem to work the best. Over inflate them a bit for a better spiral. To tell you the truth we just dont use the jugs that much...

I've heard this before -- teams with Jugs machines not using them much. Why is this? Too much of a hassle to cart out? Provide electricity? Set up? We've looking into getting one and would like to know the usage issues. Thanks To tell you the truth we just dont use the jugs that much...

Nearest outlet was 150 feet from the practice field. To move it around is a bit of a pain. We used it for kick off return & punt return. Eliminated shanks and bad snaps. So it saved us some time.

We have a jugs machine, and we use the hell out of it in the off-season. I would say we get about 300 passes 5 days a week during the summer between all our WR / DB / RB.....

Yeah we have to cart it down...not something you just leave in the field storage (share that with community track team)...
Then need lots of electrical cord...
Should get more use out of it than we do...oh well...
