Need to teach OL to number defenders this year. Do any of you have diagrams of basic defenses with defenders numbered to share. Any advice with this transition?

What kind of system are you in? What leads you to having to number them?
Not being a number guy, I am just trying to learn more about why people do this and how it works out.

Implementing slot-t system due to coaching change. Have no experience with it, only a couple of days of meetings. Learning on the run. Will actually be coaching backs and calling offense at underneath level.
