First is it legal in High School? Second has anybody done it? If so how. I heard that alot of the NFL teams use two sided Carpet tape.

Better one - baby oil on the arms and jerseys of your front seven on defense.
I hated playing those Big 12 guys - only conference where that seemed to be the norm.
By the way, I am pretty sure both are illegal.

we had this DE a year ago who didnt use baby oil, but would just get really pumped up before te games and sweat a lot, by kick off it looked like he was covered in baby oil, he kinds just slid off of everyone

I don't think I'd want the baby oil on my RB or QB or WR, I'd be afriad they wouldn't hold onto the ball.

. Now with the changes in materials that the jerseys are made out of you can have a very tight fitting hard to grab uniform that would make it less likely for a team to tape the jerseys down.

My starters got AT LEAST a size smaller jersey than they should have had. My full back wore a size small jersey when he should have probably worn a XL....

in the nfl it is standard to use double sided tape on the shoulder bads thus making the jersey even tighter.

Ok so is it legal by fed rules? If so how much tape and where do you place the tape on the shoulderpads? I would have to assume the baby oil thing on the Dline has to be illegal.

The oil is definetly illegal. A coach in Colorado several years ago got into trouble for spraying his team's jerseys with Pam cooking spray. www.greeleytrib.com/article/20061119/SPORTS/111190123Not sure about the tape, but we ordered the Extreme Compression jersey from Russell and found them to be very tight.

I might have to see if i can find a loophole so i can use that one

It also seemed like a monumental waste of time.
While you're taping your jerseys to save your butt on one play, I'll go get in three sets of cleans so I can kick your ass the other 59 plays.

The carpet tape is very effective. Eq. guy at LSU named Jeff Boss was one of the first to do it. Cover the top/front/sides with the tape. Put the jesey on. Then peel the backing off the tape. Make sure you put the jesey on BEFORE you peel the backing off the tape.

Your going to do 3 sets of cleans on game day? I was under the impression that teams only did this on game day and I would say before warm ups so it is not taking any time away from your program.

heck, the pros used to use petrolem jelly on the arms of offensive lineman.
I remember in high school using pine tar on rec. gloves. that is illegal now by the way.

Yeah, nothing like the WR throwing the ball back to a ref after a play...and the ball being covered in goo. Only thing I do with this is tell my players to strap the shoulder pads on tight and tuck their shirts in tight. I've never been even tempted to try tape or vasoline, or whatever...to me, that's out right cheating.

Boy I miss the days of Stick'em and Lester Hayes. He would cover his body with the stuff. You can see it in the photo on the tape up his arm and on his sock. I remember games where he was covered from head to toe with the stuff. They used to joke that if a ball hit him in the back it would stick to him.
