Several teams in our area are establishing tackle football leagues for students in grades 4, 5, & 6. We had several students from our school attend these at neighboring schools. I know there is an interest and I am mailing out questionairres to get a better grasp on this. My question is this: What problems/difficulties did anyone have when creating a youth tackle league from scratch? What are the necessities for doing this? If anyone would like to make themselves available to answer my numerous questions (sure to have a lot between now & August), please PM me. Thanks

The league should stress FUNdamentals, FUNdamentals, FUNdamentals. All participants should play, 1-2 snaps is not playing contrary to some little league guru's. No one can tell if a 4th, 5th, or 6th grader will be a future NFL'er. They should run the base schemes of the Jr. High/ High School or at the very least use their terminology. Unfortunately too many coaches at this level are in it for the wrong reasons. The league can benefit a program if all involved will not have the WIN at all cost attitude but it can also harm a program later because kids stop playing due to bad experiences.
