The biggest and most important thing for an aspiring young football coach to remember is DON’T BE AFRAID TO MARKET YOURSELF! Pick up the phone and make calls to coaches, email coaches, go to clinics and introduce yourself to as many coaches as possible. The greatest thing to ever come along for aspiring coaches was the internet. The WEB can provide you with many, many avenues for success. The fact is there is so much stuff available on the NET for coaches to use that it would literally take years to get through all of the information that is out there. FREE playbooks, call sheets, scouting software, you name it and it is available for free or at a very low cost. The greatest thing about the NET is all the experienced coaches who frequent the message boards and are willing and ready to share their knowledge with others. REMEMBER, there is no substitute for knowledge and there is no dumb question. Football knowledge is just like any other type of knowledge, IT MUST BE TAUGHT!

Great coaches don’t just show up on your door step one day and say they want to teach you the game, YOU must contact these people, talk with them and tell them about your passion for coaching and you will most likely get very warm responses from coaches who are eager to help you get started.

Thanks....I needed a little bit of an up-lifting message.....I'm trying to break in, and I am just smashing my head against the wall repeatedly. Appreciate the encouraging words!

Thanks....I needed a little bit of an up-lifting message.....I'm trying to break in, and I am just smashing my head against the wall repeatedly. Appreciate the encouraging words! Coach, I am a young coach myself who was lucky enough to be guided by some very knowledgable coaches who helped me any way they could. That is why I posted these messages. The things I have mentioned in this thread are things that I myself have done to enable myself to break into the coaching profession.
