We are running the 1 back spread offense for the upcoming season. Zone Read, Speed, Ctr., Dart, etc.. (all from the gun)
Our 7th and 8th grade team has rules that state the following
Only one split end
Must run a 6-2 defense
Since the rules will not allow spread formations what do you all suggest I have the modified team run knowing the plays I mentioned above. Thanks for any help.

Does the split reciever have to be on the los, by the rules? If not, just run dbl tight or tackle over unbalanced ( both with an h-back), dbl tight with a nasty slot could be good too? With the split "z" back you have the possibility of adding jet motion to your package, while still running the oneback gun plays you know?

I think Jet/Fly motion at the MS level is an excellent way to spread the defense out. The CB's at that level are often the weaker kids and if you outflank the box, your runner is off to the races.

Rules written "for and by" the guys who want to line up and play scrum ball. Hmmm, what would they do it were by rule required to have 4 wr's? I don't like limited football, in fact, I'm going to hold my breath until federation switches over to NCAA rules and allows cutting again...LOL Anyway, can you have a SE and a Flanker or just one wide guy, period? I'd go Gun-Wing T if they want to play that way, with split backs and a TE/WB, you can run anything spread/spread option from this and all of your concept patterns. Or Two TE's and a Flanker with a WB to get into a one back look, still plenty of ways to twist their rules against them and play spread football. As far as the 62, you can always line up in it and "adjust" at the snap into something else...LOL
