Just curious how many of you have mandated earlier (morning) or later at night practice times due to heat from your state associations.
If so, what state are you in?
Thanks.

If the heat index is over 100 most schools in west michigan will take some precautionary measures...
We weren't allowed on the turf and had to go helmets-only today. I know of another school that cancelled all practices for all sports, and another who is moving to a half day with morning practices or something.

In SC
The biggest change is once a range is established, you can't go back down but could move up. I.E. if the reading is 88 at the start of practice you set into max 2 hours and just shells. If it got cloudy, rains, etc... and drops down you're still stuck at 2 hours and shells. If it goes to 90, 1 hour MAX and talk off all equipment. Readings are supposed to be done every 15 minutes.
The following are the guidelines for the wet bulb.
ACTIVITY GUIDELINES & REST BREAK GUIDELINES
Under 82.0 Normal activities - Provide at least three separate rest breaks each hour of minimum duration of 3 minutes each during the workout
82.0-86.9 Use discretion for intense or prolonged exercise; watch at-risk players carefully; Provide at least three separate rest breaks each hour of a minimum of 4 minutes duration each
87.0-89.9 Maximum practice time is two hours. For Football: players restricted to helmets, shoulder pads, and shorts during practice. All protective equipment must be removed for conditioning activities. For all sports: provide at least four separate rest breaks each hour of a minimum of 4 minutes each
90.0-92.0 Maximum length of practice is one hour, no protective equipment may be worn during practice, and there may be no conditioning activities. There must be 20-minutes of rest breaks provided during the hour of practice. Competitions involving high intensity effort, in which breaks are not possible (e.g. Cross Country meets), should be delayed until WBGT reading is below 90 or canceled.
Over 92.1 No outdoor workouts; Cancel exercise; delay practices until a cooler WBGT reading occurs

Gonna be 92 tomorrow. 94 Wednesday. And 95 Thursday. Don’t see us getting on the field much. But Friday the high is 90 And they are still gonna expect us to play.

Heat index of 101 for our JV game Thursday. We wouldn’t be allowed on the field for practice, but we have to play a game. Either player safety is important or it isn’t, but I can’t tell which is true.
