GT got the ball back with about 6:30 left in the game after FSU tied the game at 21. FSU had all 3 timeouts but didn’t start using them until there was 2:00 minutes left and GT was already basically in FG range.
Would anyone have handled that last 6:30 differently?

I don’t think there was much to be done. They just couldn’t stop GT. They ran out of time despite using all of their timeouts. There was a third and one that GT converted. Perhaps FSU could have used a TO there before the play, but then they ran the risk of GT converting and wasting that timeout which means they had less ability to stop the clock on the next set of downs. I think it was right to wait to call the timeout until after that play regardless of result. 3rd and 1 favors the offense.
Perhaps if you limit the 2nd down play, and GT ends up with 3rd and 5 instead of 3rd and 1, you call timeout.

already basically in FG range. Would anyone have handled that last 6:30 differently? blasphemy, of course, but at what point do you just be honest with yourself and say, " letting the opponent drain the clock and hope they miss a very probable field goal" is worth just letting the opponent score 7 to at least give your offense a shot to score to tie/win? No one has ever done that, I get it, not even the Packers / Broncos SB.... I don't see it much different from taking a safety rather than punting out of your end zone. The SMU / Nevada last drive was even more BALLSY.... SMU was already in FG range, milking the clock, down by 2....and opted to take a shot in the end zone on 3rd (?) down. They scored but the probability of a run gaining 3 yards to the middle of the field would've set them up for a winning FG (+1) with less than a minute remaining
