Hey Coaches,
Just want to say....I stumbled on this message board just today, opening Microsoft Edge which had an old favorites bar saved, and I recognized the FavIcon.
This has to be one of the longest running coaching communities online....hell, any community.
I personally found you guys....geez, early 2000's? So 20+ years ago.
I'm still coaching, start up official tomorrow. New coaching gig, DC in Milw. WI
Anyway, going to be adding the forum back to my CURRENT favorites bar and check back more often. Kudos to all who run this!
Thanks, Steve

I have been here since 2005. Which feels like 31 years ago but probably isn't.

Been a blast. Some of my guys from this site are now my close friends. Hung out with some while my wife and I were on our honeymoon, partied at AFCA, flown out to speak at our clinic we hold in UT, had a car impounded while out drinking, and even had one I met on here live with us for multiple summers while interning at Utah.
So many of the old-guard aren't on anymore. DCOhio was possibly the funniest dude ever. It's been a hell of a ride. Hopefully I've helped some people as much as I've been helped on this site.
No way I'd remember everyone, so I won't try but to all of you I've had the opportunity to meet and hangout with because we met through here, thanks!
My wife refers to you guys as my "internet boyfriends"

This has been a great site over the years. I left for a bit and re-registered my account, but I believe it was the spring of 2006 when I found it for the first time. I was in Mt. Vernon IL coaching with Dan Mings (for you IL coaches that may know the name) and man that feels like a lifetime ago!

what is remarkable is the FUNDAMENTALS Huey, Tog and the founders insisted on the quality of what this community should be about. The pitfalls of online communities and forums is so common (the repetitive glad-handing, member worship, devolving all topics to just a few posters) but they set out to ensure that never took root here. A remarkable feat. coachhuey.com/thread/69827/read-first

Hard to keep things from toxic as these things exist year after year, but it's stayed true to what it set out to do. I made my profile in 2013, but had been lurking for years prior. Also, DCOhio is easily one of the funniest guys I ever read posts from. Hope he's doing well.

Another example of the power of this board--I never met DCOhio in person yet I think of him almost every day. Something football related will trigger a memory of something he posted.

2006 for me, 25th year coaching.
Not sure I'd be the same coach without some of the help and incite I've gotten over the years. Cheers fellas, and good luck this season!

DCOhio posts and the ones about syrup and pancakes bring back memories.

This site is great and I am pleasantly surprised by its longevity. I think there are a few reasons:
- Its a professional development site, NOT a fan site. We don't devolve into fan arguments so it stays relevant and limits the awful fanhood behavior. Also, unlike other professional developments, there is not some guru hear trying to sell something and forcing use to buy into there line of thinking.
- Equity of voices. There is no real deference given to anyone here based on their level of success. Being a football coach has taught us all that success is often based on factors outside of our control. That includes both on the field and off. You could literally be the greatest coach in the world, but if you don't know anyone at the higher levels, or was willing to give up a few years of your life to GA for a while, then your ceiling for career advancement has been set. BUT that doesn't mean you cant have great ideas.
- There aren't a lot of pi55ing contests. Which is shocking to me, because most often coaches debates devolve into who can yell the loudest and complain the most. The mods have done a good job of keeping things in line, and this happens to be one of those few cases where being online, and not in person, has led to people being more level headed.
