For the past several years we have taken our seniors to a lake house owned by one of our coach's families, typically the last weekend before August. It's been a great team-building tradition for us. Coaches notice that the seniors work together better after this weekend every single year, the kids get to know the coaches going as chaperones and each other better, and just about every kid has said that it's their favorite memory from football. We do everything except actually talk about our upcoming football season - fishing, tubing, cornhole, madden tournaments, smores, and enough food to make everyone puke. It's great.
Long story short, because of several factors we are not able to make the 2-day lake trip this year. Instead we are looking at the possibility of taking the seniors on a 1-day trip - maybe kayaking or something similar. Any ideas or similar things you guys have done in the past? We're in northwest Ohio for reference

We're in northwest Ohio for reference depending on where you are in NW Ohio, take them to the Scouts camping property Camp Mikaonda (likely mispelled that). I know of some schools have taken kids there to do the various team building activities they have on site plus fish , cook out and camp. I know Camp DeSalles in Brooklyn, MI. offers the same amenties Take them to a state park on a lake and come up with your own activities. Maumee Bay State Park in Oregon, Ohio, Sterling State Park just over the state line in Monroe, MI., and the state park in Angola, Indiana are all great spots. Another idea, take them to a college campus. Tour the place, reserve a meeting room, have a meal and chat. Feel free to message me if you need more ideas, I coached in NW Ohio from 2005-2014 before moving over the state line to SE Michigan. Take care- Kyle
