Does your state have rules for the number of players you can dress or the number of staff you are allowed on your sideline?
I'm looking to get our insanely restrictive limits changed in our area, and I'm trying to build our case by showing how out of sync we are with every other region.

Some school systems in my state have limits on how many coaches they will pay a stipend or coaching supplement, based on the school's classification as designated by the State's High School Athletic Assoc.; HOWEVER, if the Boosters' Club wants to pay more coaches, they can if they run the money through the school book-keeper/accountant. Some of the school systems have a set # of supplements for every school in the system regardless of student enrollment/classification; and some of them also allow the Boosters' Club to do as mentioned above.
As far as I know, schools in my state have as many players as they can safely outfit with practice and game gear/uniforms/etc. and how many buses you can use on away games (getting drivers is the hard part if Assistant Coaches do not drive the buses); or if you can afford to use Charter Buses for road games.

Ok, bear with me...we have no roster or staff size limits until the state championship game. In the state championship game, you are limited to 9 staff members on the sideline. Staff = coaches, trainers/medical staff, waterboy, ball boy, Equipment manager, etc. Basically anybody who isn't a player. You are only allowed to dress 56 Players in our state championship game. This is regardless of classification/school size. Can you imagine telling a kid (and his parents) who invested 4+ years into your program that they can't be on the sidelines for the state championship game?!?

Limiting the number of training staff seems like a health risk for players. I’d consider that being a point of contention if you try and fight this. And yes it does seem to be a bad rule.

You have 56+ kids who are Jrs/Srs and some sophisticated that contribute? Man, people live different lives. I spent the majority of my career at places that didn't have 56 kids in the program, let alone 56 Jrs/Srs/contributors. Hell, the place I spent 7 years as HC, we had 50 varsity jerseys and never handed out all 50 9-12. I never coached at a place that 9+ staff members. What state is this?

We had 57 players on our Varsity roster
Our Frosh + JV roster = 65 players
We have approximately 950 students at our school.

You can have every swinging d!ck in the town on the sideline if you want here have we worked together? I asked someone on here the same question years ago and he didn't realize I was kidding. Made for an awkward back and forth. I know you don't give a sh!t but that was the first thing I thought when I read your message and I wanted you to have to think about that same thing next time someone says that to you. Kinda like paying it forward in a bad way...you're welcome

We get 65 in uniform, 9 coaches ( we have 6) on the field and space for 3 in the booth. We have to designate a trainer and managers.

Anybody in NC know the rule on this? I haven’t been blessed to make it that far yet, but I feel like it’d be a good thing to know.

An issue that less than 1% of teams nation wide would ever have to worry about. It is stupid but not being in a state title game in 25 years it would be of little concern to me. Its a first world problem

Its a first world problem I totally agree. I've been fortunate to be there, and I've always reminded young guns to be sure to enjoy even the 1st round of the playoffs b/c it is a special thing. You should never take for granted the chance to go deep in the playoffs. BUUUUT.... When a team does make it all the way, is one of the final two, has been fighting for 12, 14, or in our state 18 weeks (including preseason); how can you tell that JV coach that does all the grunt work and is invaluable for so many things that are not Friday night "Son, you've got to buy a ticket and sit in the stands", or that scout team senior that does all the right things and that knows he will never step on the field for anything that comes close to meaningful minutes, "Thanks dude, you can watch the game on the NFHS channel"? I can understand that you can't let every Tom, Dick, and Harry stand on the sidelines, but considering most of these games are at college stadiums, or at least big venue HS stadiums..... Why? Has anyone actually looked at the sideline of a P5 regular season game? There are at least a 100 people on the edges that have nothing to do with the play of the game. Heck, I can call my alma mater and get a sideline pass anytime.
