Hi,
I am from Australia, I am setting up and initiative around exporting old helmets from the USA to teams in Australia. As football is still an emerging but strong growing sport in Australia we seem to struggle to get the finances to look after our players with regularly updated helmets.
What I am looking to do is start with my club which is one of the best in Australia and organise an old helmet swap initiative where we ship your old helmets to our club. We then refurbish and use. The benefits will be setting a sister relationship between our club and your college, many teams in Australia have players in all positions getting scholarships into High School and College, this could give your college first look at some great talent coming out of Australia.
Australia has immense talent in the line positions as well as the more athletic positions and the sport is growing with many having a pathway from Rugby League/Union and AFL into either Flag or Tackle football. The transition is quite logical after the athletes understand the technicalities and techniques.
In addition we could also see cultural programs between the two programs pop up as well.
Once I secure helmets for my club I will grow the initiative until I have every team in Australia connected with a college team in the USA. I am currently a player (Right Tackle) and work in a business that is in a JV with a concussion phone app, so we have plenty of opportunity for international PR..
If you are, or know of anyone that can assist, please message me and it will be greatly appreciated.
Ken.

Most places here are gonna use their helmets until they get rejected or their lifetime runs out. Not sure what the liability issues would be as well sending old helmets out to be used again, but I am willing to bet it's not something guys want to risk. Good idea in theory just not sure it's very practice.
And what would the shipping rates to Australia be??

I'd say shipping is gonna be the killer. You will find it difficult unless you get them free shipping. We keep our helmets to the end. If you have a Riddell rep in Australia you might be able to swing it but my guess they don't want old ones out there.

Shipping would be ok, its simply a container by sea, not that expensive, if we were talking air freight, agree. Agree re helmet age, if they are 8 or 9 years old, no good, they are to be thrown out after 10 years. But if there is a college that swaps them out at say 4-6 years, then that is great.
We do refurb them over here as well. Appreciate the replies..
