Well, there's new hudl and old hudl. Old hudl, according to a rep I talked to a little over a year ago, was supposed to be phased out at the beginning of this year. It hasn't happened yet, and I've heard little about it. I'm hoping they got a lot of push back on new hudl and have decided something different.

Yeah new hudl is dookie. I mean there are some things I like better about it but old hudl IMO is more user friendly

I'm hoping the reason they've been so quiet here lately is that the results of the little survey they sent out back in October or November did not yield the results they thought they'd get. My fingers are crossed.

They have also gone full on arrogant too. They care very little about the end user. It's all about $ now. There was a time when Hudl was super user friendly and coach friendly. They have gone very cold here lately almost to the point of being robotic.
If Qwikcuts could ever get their act together with their reports, it would be a game changer for Hudl.

Always a great idea to make a new version of something that works well and people like....

I'm a big fan of OLD HUDL. Our young guys like the new HUDL. IMHO, there's too much going on when using new HUDL. I feel as if I'm in a car doing 150 MPH driving down an expressway. " There was a time when Hudl was super user friendly and coach friendly. They have gone very cold here lately almost to the point of being robotic." I agree....

I think the new Hudl is way better. I got sick of having to make reports on old Hudl and if I added a playlist or changed data, I had to delete the old report and make a new one. Then repeat this every time we got a new game or something. With new Hudl, it saves so much time.

The only thing that I like in in the "new" version is the feature to sort report real time so to speak. But I also like being able to view reports like in the classic version. So my question to Hudl is why not keep the best features of classic and move them into the new version? There is a reason for both methods.

The ONLY thing I like in new hudl is that you can zoom in on the video. If you could do that on old I'd never use new.

Very telling story from this weekend at a Glazier clinic. The presenter asked everyone in the audience (30+ coaches of varying age ranges) "Anyone use New Hudl?". Not one person in the audience raised their hand.

So much more you can do and nowhere near as jumbled up and hard to understand as New Hudl.

"Excel blows the doors off both of them though. So much more you can do and nowhere near as jumbled up and hard to understand as New Hudl." Agree with this BUT, you can't watch film on EXCEL. I like to filter by formation and then watch all the plays run out out of a formation. I'm a big EXCEL proponent. I've been using EXCEL for quite a long time; I feel that it's easier to manipulate data. As I've mention on this board numerous times, I also feel that I don't have to type in as much data. I can, for the most part, create formulas that will give me more info from what I've typed into Hudl.

I used print out my reports and physically count how many traps, tosses etc. I felt like I knew the info better

To start, I suggest learning how to use: PIVOT TABLES (to get count based on different criteria), IF, IF AND, IF OR (to use existing data to get more data, ADVANCED FILTERING (to filter data based on multiple criteria-can also use AUTO FILTER).
If you have further questions, I am willing to share what I know.

I have a pivot table question for the group. What I normally do is download my scout film data to Excel and then create all sorts of pivot tables to get the data I want as well as fill out my call and information sheet for the week. I just tried to take that file, delete the original data and insert data from another game but I keep getting an error about the name of the pivot table. I'm not sure why this is? My goal is to not have to recreate all my pivot tables every week. I'd like to load my data into one file and then have the pivot tables auto-populate on refresh. Is that not possible? If it is, what am I doing wrong? TIA.

If you convert your original data list to a table, you can then add data with no issues. You can then refresh the pivot table you created. I think that should solve your issue.

You make the initial data into a table. Then take and reference all the pivot tables in your file to "Table1". Bingo. When you go to do a new game, copy and past the new data into the master pivot table file, go to your 1st pivot table and right click then hit "refresh" and all the pivot table data includes the new data.
