We are looking at not mirroring RPOs in 2x2 sets. As an example the right side runs fast screen to 1 but the left side is running hitches. We are trying to figure out the best way to name them that is easy for the kids. We have discussed calling them after fast food restaurants (Mcdonalds, Chick-fil-a, etc) because you order combos at fast food restaurants, but don't know the best way without getting wordy to tell them what is run on what side if we are in a balanced 2x2 set. Any suggestions on how others have done this would be greatly appreciated.

We use one word tags for each combo and communicate them left then right. "Hero" = hitch, "Door" = slant bubble so left to right would be Hero Door.

From a 2x2 alignment...call "Wagon-Door".. The hitch is left and the screen is to the right. Of course the opposite is "Door-Wagon". Use words with hard consonant sounds, one syllable if possible. Easier to hear in a crowded stadium.

This is really only an issue maybe if you huddle. If you signal it’s pretty easy. Left hand signals to the left. Right hand signals to the right. Then a signal for the box. We’ve done it like that for 10 years or so from 6-12 grade no problem at three different schools.

Teach the backside a concept versus the coverage. Keep the RPO name the same and players just know if you see cover 3 they run the concept you like against c3. Do same for all other coverages. You can always tweak it week to week and not have to tag in a pile of new words. Everyone just knows what concept is backside of the RPO

With non-mirrored pass concepts we just always called the left to right. It definitely kept it simple, though it could get wordy in some scenarios. I suppose the down side is you need to make sure you're structuring your calls right as the play caller (can't just read off a script).
"Iso - hitch - fast" is pretty quick though
