what kind of balls do you use?
how many do you take out to practice?
what do you take them out to practice in?
How do you break them in?
Do you write little numbers on them for the WR's?
Do you under/overinflate them?
Do you have a special way to keep them dry?
Do you use a heavy ball at all for qb's?

what kind of balls do you use? Wilson GST how many do you take out to practice? about 15 what do you take them out to practice in? Plastic grocery bags...... its ecologically sound to recycle....Are you serious about this one? How do you break them in? Normal use Do you write little numbers on them for the WR's? No, but have had officials write a 50 line sonnet on a few when they check them in. Do you under/overinflate them? Depends on who airs them up.....One coach can't see six inches in front of him and thinks 12.5 pounds is equal to 25.5 pounds on the pump dial. Do you have a special way to keep them dry? We tried to use the expense of footballs as our reasoning to get a practice bubble but it didn't fly with the A.D. So we ordered a few extra towels and recycled a few more plastic bags. Do you use a heavy ball at all for qb's? no...but I like the idea behind them.

Does Scooby, still keep those litttle puck size air fresheners in his bag next to his extra practice plans and fancy play cards?

We use Wilson 1005's
Use about 20 at practice
Take them out in two Gillman Ball bag (one for only QB balls)
Game ball we rub down with a warm wet cloth and use them the day before a game.

Rawlings - ST5's
Take em out in a ball bag.
Start out with 3-4 new balls at the start of the year, then add one every game day. As ball start to wear out through normal use, we put them in the kicking ball bag , which has about 8-10 balls.

Ever hear of this.....
Last year the guy i coached with filled a ball half full with water and used it with our RB's.....the added weight and "sloshing" effect was supposed to make them focus more on carrying the ball and cut down on fumbles....

We use the Wilson GST. We bring them out in what our kids refer to as the "ball sack" Sometimes the kids say thing that you don't really want to laugh at because you don't want to encourage them. But some times you spit half you water bottle out at your computer screen. Chuck you owe me a new keyboard.

I've heard of this before but never used it. Has anyone else had any experience with this, did it help? Watching film of the team I will be working with next year they have a kid whose father aparently played at FSU. Looks like a tough runner just has problems holding on to the ball. Appears mental breakdown b/c one of the games I attended this year he fumbled in the open field as he hit the corner on a sweep. Also looks like he sweats alot...I may make him get sweat bands for his wrist and upperarms...try to keep his hands and arms dry.

That "ball sack" thing was exactly one of those. One day a kid was carrying the bag and said "look guys, I am carrying a huge ball sack" or something like that. I was drinking a gatorade at the time and almost blew it out my nose. Although the coaches do not encourage the use of that phrase it has stuck. As long as it does not get out of control I'll let them continue to have a little fun with it.

We use the Rawlings ST5. We have 3 "Ball Sacks". Offense, Defense and kicking balls. The "O" and "D" bags have 6-8 balls and the kicking bag has 8-10 balls.
