I've looked and looked but can't seem to find practice jerseys' that are reversible. I've seen game jerseys that are, but not practice ones. Anyone use these, similar to what basketball teams do??? And if so, where do you find them?
This would save time to put red scrimmage vests on that always seem to be a PITA and slow practice down.

Planning on 2 platooning for the first time in my career and not exactly sure how many of each to order so I figure reversible will do the trick.

Wouldn’t the time “saved“ just be spent having to take the jerseys off your shoulder pads, reverse it and put it back on?

We have the offense and the defense in different colored jerseys from the get go, and the QBs are in read.
If we need to have a designated jersey for a 'dude' then we put one on the player who is to be 'that dude'.
But we are 2 platoon and most kids are either/or.
the jerseys we use to identify the opponent's dudes, we slit the sides of the jersey to they can go on over a helmet and shoulder pads
We've in the past just used athletic tape to make a number for that guy

If you haven't used helmet condoms, try them. LITERAL GAME CHANGER. Trust me.
You can get 15 for $130. It will be the best $130 you spend on your football team.

We've used reversibles and finally moved away from it this year. They're a total pain in the ass and waste of times with kids having to flip them around.

We previously used old game jerseys (old and beat-up) on the scout teams. We would give kids a "scout jersey" and they were expected to keep it all week and wear it every day. At end of week we collected jerseys and washed them. As you guessed, it didn't happen. Kids lost jerseys, left them at home, or couldn't find them in the hazardous waste site they call a locker. Went with the colored helmet caps and things went a whole lot better. We hand out caps during pre-practice and collect them at the end of practice. Kids stick the caps in their belt and put them on when needed. No muss, no fuss.
Don't know why it took us so long to figure this out!!!!

If you 2 platoon and want to limit HOW MANY jerseys you buy, just go into the offseason and assign numbers and then buy jerseys based on those O/D numbers.
If you don't care what numbers someone has, or just want a blank jersey, buy enough of each color based on size.
We fortunately don't have to worry about the money aspect, but still end up with kids wearing jerseys with a number other than their Friday night one.
The numbers helps with accountability (somebody 'borrowing' another's jersey/short/T/etc...) but in the long run needing to designate a player only matters when we practice to play a team that matters.

We went away from using old game jerseys, again cost isn't an issue for us. We do sell/give/donate the old game jerseys.
Fans, alumni, faculty/staff love being able to get that game used jersey.
You can make some decent money off selling them, or you can make some decent political capital by giving them away.
