Anyone install lights on their practice field? Been a discussion just not sure if it’s worth it. Maybe we’d do more night practices if we had them, but just curious if anyone hs them and if they use them alot or not.

Two times I could think they would be nice to have.
1. Early in season when wet bulb temperatures force us to take off pads or practice inside. You could practice later or early morning to beat the heat.
2. Late in season or playoffs when it’s dark before practice is early and you have to go on your game field.

We haven't had them on any practice fields I've been at, but we have practiced on the game field late in the season when we were done having home games.

A few places I coached at barely had game field lights.
True story- the place I was the HC at for 7 years had lights that were originally the lights from the parking lot at a Caterpillar factory. They were put on top of used power poles that had been taken out of service. We eventually got new ones because they were deemed a safety hazard and the school could claim them on insurance or something.

Most places around me have turf fields in the stadium, which are usually used as the practice fields.
When I was growing up our practice and game fields were in different locations. Late in the season we'd pack up and go to the game stadium for some practices.

Only teams around here I am aware of that practice on fields with lights are those that have "turf" game fields.
