2 kids that got kicked off and one that quit have signed up to coach.
Club Sponsor didn't know. Took their money.
Players voiced their concerns.
Principal said former players ain't coaching.
+1 for Principal.

That is great.
By the way, if anybody is looking for a good fundraiser, this can be one.
It used to be a big deal at our school. Could easily make $5000 a year. Now we are a fairly wealthy school. But anyway, each grade has a team, charge like $60 each and they get a t-shirt jersey with nickname and number on back. Get some boys to coach, they have to pay too. Get some teachers to supervise practices M-Thu and play on a Friday night. Charge admission and have the coaches ref it. Sr play soph and then jr. play fr. Can have losers play and then winners in championship. Very little work for coaches. Our parents would turn out pretty good and students to watch. Can even do concessions.
It was always fun but usually had to throw a few girls out for cussing each other or getting too rough, but we made so much $ that the principal started taking some of it so nobody does it anymore.

Powder puff is one of the many things that I hate about homecoming week.
I've reffed it several times and I'm starting to wonder if the cash they throw me is worth the nightmares.

My alma mater quit doing Powder Puff after a few torn ACLs and calls to the cops. I used to be the organizer of the powder puff. Few things get as violent. These girls are waiting all year to hit someone, even if we make it no contact, theyll gladly take the ejection.

Neighboring district went underground after it was sanctioned by their admin. Kids made a ton of cash, game never made it to half time and the cops were always called. Minors, possession, assault, vandalism such an awesome day! Needless to say it is back at the school level and proceeds go to charity.

California started girls flag football too, it is strictly no contact (no blocking at all). But that aint what a lot of these participants are looking for in powder puff, this is payback time.

Girls high school interscholastic flag football is taking off in Illinois. It will probably be a state sanctioned sport in a couple of years. Way better than a one week powderpuff nonsense.

I've had to officiate PP games before and it sucks for all the reasons mentioned on this thread.

I don't see any way it comes back to our campus, especially since CA has flag now.

Reffing it was always a bunch of fun. We had to kick some out, like I said, but it was not a big deal. Coaches all did it together.

One of my first years as a head varsity coach our AD told me I had to cut my 2 heavy practice days to an hour so our guys could coach powder puff teams. It was rival and homecoming week against a great team. I protested but she "made" me do it. We got obliterated in that game 55-0. A week later she asked what was wrong because I seemed mad at her. YIKES !!!!!!!

There’s a private school around here that did a real football for the alumni. Alumni Game!!! It’s full contact with pads. Borrowed equipment from hs team…COVID killed it. It’s a real thing that I’m not sure how nobody A. Died B. Got arrested C. Got sued or D. All of the above.
Been a long time tradition and I think there are games on YouTube.

Here a while back (8-10 years ago) there was a group/company that did these as a fund raiser project; supplied the equipment, players had to buy jerseys. Several school around did it. Not sure if it still exists today.

Our school used to have powder puff FB homecoming week. The coaching staff officiated on the Sunday afternoon before HC. I coached for 30+ years of HS FB but I never heard such foul and often funny language as I did from the girls. F bombs, every other girls is a B, and the terms used to describe the body part that just got punched or pinched was priceless. Fortunately they did away with it after a couple of broken arms one year. The game stories coulda filled a book!
