Hello, I can't seem to find it anywhere. I know that it's 27 feet from the sideline to the numbers, but can anyone tell me what the exact distance is from the sideline to the bottom of the numbers and to the top of the numbers? Thanks in advance.

Bottoms of the numbers depend on how big the stencils are your paint crew use. I don't believe there is any NFHS regulation on size of numbers or how far bottoms are from SL. Only tops of numbers. If that is wrong perhaps @reffla will correct me.

I’ve seen 7 yards from sideline to bottom before on a diagram. This came up recently between myself and another coach. He had his listed at 6 yards. They have field turf so that might be a factor. I would think on field turf the bottom of the numbers would be fairly standard but who knows.

Numbers should be 6 feet (tall?), so 7 yards from Sideline to bottom of numbers.
Definitely seen some grass fields where the numbers were shorter though l.

Sideline to the base of the numbers is 7 yds. Top on numbers in 9yds. Upright to hashmark is 4.15 yds. Hash to hash is 17.6 yds.
We use the upright to the hash as a marker for calling coverages, MOF, boundary, etc.

If that is wrong perhaps @reffla will correct me. You're right Coach. The field diagram only specifies the distance to the top of the numbers.

There is no standard size on numbers on numbers in high school. Correct. But stencils come with the numbers 2 yards wide.

nothing about the bottom
top of the numbers is half the distance of the sideline/hash.
NFHS high School is perfection of the thirds.
all others are bastards

Thanks for that guys. So looks like I'm going to draw a stripe at 21 ft for the bottom and 27 ft. for the top.
