I am wondering what you guys think? Some of you may remember my post "Worst season I ever had" back around last November. A couple interesting things that have happened since I am thinking about being a total SOB and telling this guy to shove it. We had our banquet not long ago, a few weeks pryor I had been in touch with the HC and trying to find out when the event would take place. This was a fun task since the HC wasn't returning my calls. Finally I touched base with him and we talked about the banquet, I told him that I would be there and would call all the kids to inform them. He told me he had already done that and all I had to do was show, I said cool. Well at the festivities he gave me the Certificates to hand out having me check if everyone had one, I noticed that there was and also saw that nothing was mentioned that I was their coach nor was there a place to sign the cert., he told me he signed them figuring that I wouldn't be there. I told him I would weeks earlier. In attendance were only 8 JV players and 12 Varsity players in totla plus the families. That was the first thing that was a bunch of bull. The second thing was there were no coaches appreciation certs or anything. After all I had done and sacrificed to help this guy that had only 5 coaches and a program that I was going under, the impression I had in the beginning was he needed help to succeed. And this guy pulls this kind of crap I was a bit beside myself. The straw that broke the camels back though as I hit my boiling point, was after the banquet he told me about the coaches clinic and that it was near the end of Feb. I called him to get the dates and learnd that the day I called he was already there. So the question isn't really a question, but I wanted to get some feed back anyways. Would you just take all this guys coaching gear and keys and mail them back with a letter of resignation?,
Face the jerk in person pleasantly resigining?, or
[C] Ignore him as he has done me?
I am enjoying the thought of what some of you guys are gonna say!...LoL

sounds like a bad situation...time to move on...but don't write an FU letter, you never know who he knows. Just show some professionalism and move on

carson
remain the "professional" resign the right way never forget that someone may call him in the future and whil he may not have a lot of good things to say about you now, it could always be worse. in your resignation explain in detail why you are resigning.

I finished the letter praisin the program and stuff even though it is a line of bull. Except for my moving, hows this:
Dear Coach,
I , regretfully have decided to step down as JV Head Football Coach for the ******** effective immediately. I am moving back to California in mid June with my family because of family priorties. I appreciate having the opportunity to have been a coach here. I have enjoyed working with both Varsity and JV teams. I also want to express my gratitude to the School Administration for their support. I am in the hopes that this football program will continue to achieve the excellence it so deserves.
Respectfully,

Man Carson thats tough. Been in similar situations. If if makes you feel better coaches like that just don't win in the long run. Move on and "Make the Big Time where you are".
His character wll show in the next teams records and so on. I doubt he will stay in coaching that long.
Yeah as much as you want to dont bother with the F.U. Just move on. That said don't lie. Don't give him any credit if not deserved. You did not get much of an opportunity so do you really appreciate it? Did you really enjoy it? Do you really want to give gratitude? Maybe to admin etc but not to this guy.
Thanks those who deserve it (other staff, players, parents) but don't flatter just so things smell rosey on the way out.
I dunno....
Sounds like a nightmare. Sorry you had to go through that. But it will make you better. You now have an EVEN BETTER understanding of what not to do and how to do things right to show your appreciation and why it is so important.
When you get in a better place you will enjoy it more after going through that crap!
Best of luck C101!
