This is an example of an unsupportive admin. A player has a slight elbow injury. Painful yes but still able to play. A doctor tells him to take 2 weeks off. I suggest they see another dr b/c the nature of the nature of the injury. Plus our trainer (through the local hospital) cleared him. The mom took him but then called the principal irate b/c I "made" him go to another dr and wanted the school to pay for it and the milage. My boss comes in and tells me to lay off the injured kids and not tell them to get 2nd opinions (which is a healthy thing to do in almost any case). He tells me this is not college ball and kids should not be pressured into playing hurt. What the heck does he think I am doing here? I have a kid I am holding out with a slightly sprained MCL, and another we held out last week with a hip flexor b/c he was not 100%. The trainer said if taped he would not injure it any further and his strength in the joint is very good. He's just tender. I always thought playing with pain was part of football.
Does that fit the bill for non-supportive?

Administratively, we were asked if there was anything they could do for us, to support us....so we asked for; (this is an actual conversation)
We need a gauntlet machine - no dice, too expensive...what else can we help you with?
We need a tackling machine (spring guided) - no dice, too expensive...what else can we help you with?
We need a fenced off practice field (every weekend it get's trashed by other HS / College games that use it as a tailgating area / parking lot...Monday has beer bottles + trash everywhere ~ divots from cars peeling out / donuts - We really can't do anything about that...what else can we help you with?
Can you at least put up some cheap (orange) plastic ski-fence blocking the entrance to the practice field? - uh....um.....we'll look into it, but I can't promise you anything...what else can I help you with? ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- We have finally got some 'parental' involvement this year and the Booster Club has taken off and helped us out of some of the fundraising stuff we used to be swamped with in the past.
The Booster Club presidents recently exchanged 'ownership' and two guys have taken over, so to speak. They did allow us to get new uniforms for the program (big help) and we bring in pizza for the team (both Soph & Varsity) after Friday night games. Two Friday's ago, the Sophs get done with their game....no pizza. When the Head Soph coach investigates, the booster (with the checkbook) said, "yeah, uh, I did that....you didn't get so-and-so's registration in yet". Now the registration form had nothing to do with eligibility or a legal agreement - it was a sheet of paper with the kid's name and phone number....something you could've gotten off of any one of the sheets already filled out (legally) and at school. This was just an administrative form for the program....kind of like an equipment inventory checklist form. So the Sophs had no pizza after a game because of this form. Brilliant! What else are you working on?
