I'm sure there will be some who will justify this as just being 'passionate' and thats part of the job; no different than when coaches yell at, and berate each other but justify it because we care. As if that absolves us of behaving responsibly.
FWIW, my senior year in HS we had a practice while the JV had a game, so we didn't have a lot for the scout team. The scout coach, angry that the scout team wasn't performing, put in our rotational QB at fullback. First play in he gets cracked and concussed. Our HC flips out on the scout coach cusses him out and slams him to the ground- in full view of us all. Fires the coach, then ends practice.

This is pretty bad. I thought at first maybe the guy wasn't intentionally throwing the assistant to the ground but it does look pretty terrible at about the 6 second mark of that video.
I leave a tiny room for doubt because I had a situation that could have been misinterpreted before.
We made a tackle on our sideline and one of our freshmen went over and started grabbing his crotch over the ball carrier and hopped up and down while pointing at him. I ran over to grab him to get him out of there and as soon as I touched him he went down. I know it had to have looked bad from the stands. But I had no intention of knocking him down I was just trying to get him away from the ball carrier. I was lucky because our principal was on the sideline and a few yards behind it all by the track and saw it all happen and knew what was going on.

That HC used to be the HC at a local school here in Illinois when I was a first year HC. I never met him, but several guys I trust know him an say he's a good guy. You never know what's going on before that situation.
Besides, I didn't think it was that physical. Given the headline I was ready for some Hulk Hogan/Andre the Giant action.

I have been close to this a few times this year. Except the coaches outweigh me by about 100pounds. The coaches on the white are always volunteer coaches and the stats spotter. What in the hell! Get off the field.

Nothing to see here. Looks like he meant to just keep the guy back and didn't intend to push him down, but hey chit happens. An apology and buying him a couple of cold rounds should remedy it. At least it would for me if I were the assistant. We also don't know the background context or the relationship those guys have. Again, doesn't look like he did it maliciously. Worst case scenario, the 2 duke it out in the parking lot for a minute or so and shake hands afterward.
But of course people are going to say he should resign or that the assistant should press charges or that he should be nowhere near the game of football. I mean, after all, coaches who say the F word are terrible people.

Don't put your hands on people with out their permission. I think our O-line has taken this to heart.

It certainly did not seem to be a big enough shove to send the guy down like that. Maybe that guy should hit the squat racks with the kids.

This is what happens when you have a Tier 2 Get-Back coach.
