When did your season start?

In SC you get no extra time/days for playing a week zero game.  The preseason starts 18 weeks for before the 1st Saturday in December (state title games).  The football calendar states when the 'first' of everything is allowed (practice, scrimmages, etc...).

The only wiggle room is that the first allowed practice actually doesn't start on that Monday.  The week before the beginning of the preseason is our coaching association clinic.  This runs Sunday-Wednesday.  Once that is over, you can start practicing that Friday but many just wait until the traditional following Monday.  

We played a week zero game yesterday (8/20), so we brought in the kids on that early Saturday and Sunday to get the 'helmets only' checked off the acclimatization list.  That allowed us to get in the 5 day ramp up in order to have all our scrimmages/jamborees before that first game.

So for the time line, traditionally the week 1 games are the last Friday in August with 3 weeks of preseason and then game 1 week prep.  If you do a week zero game, you loose a week of preseason.

First practice in pads: Saturday August 20th

Jamboree: Friday August 26th or Saturday August 27th. (I would guess 75 percent of schools participate in one)

Week one: Thursday Sept 1st - Saturday Sept 3rd
