Just curious if the increased fuel costs are impacting anyone with regards to planning, activities, schedules etc.

Illinois was supposed to seed the playoffs 1-32 this upcoming year for all 8 classes instead of the North/South split of 16 team "regions" that has existed for the past decade plus. That has been tabled due to fuel prices.

How could it not? Especially when it comes to scheduling. A number of small schools in Texas out in the hinterlands who play 6 man (and some 11 man) have had to reschedule games because of it. They have dropped distant non-district games to play closer-in district foes twice. A few have chosen to play district opponents only. Most districts have 5-6 schools (4 or 5 games), while others have as little as 4 schools in a district. Some other schools have had to opt out of this season due to participation numbers because kids are just not showing the same interest as they had last year when they were able to play 9 or 10 games.

Try living in Europe, where fuel prices are €2/ltr, which basically equals to $7.5/gallon. We're still playing nationally and in some cases internationally, so you'll all be doing fine.

But you just coach a football club correct? That would be different than coaching like most here do, which is coaching at a school whose primary use of funding is not football.

No thanks, but our gas prices have never been higher here. Club football in Europe is not the same as high school football in America. High school Administrators here have to think of the entire athletic department transportation costs for women's sports and men's sports, not just football. Those other sports (depending upon the size of the school) could include; football, cross-country, volleyball, water polo (in many western states), field hockey (in many eastern states), basketball, swimming, wrestling, cheer, hockey (in most eastern and northern states), baseball, softball, track, golf, tennis, and others that are more regional in nature.

Welp, I guess that was a bit short sighted of me. In Europe, players and coaches pay for their own gas, so I was silly enough to expect the same in the US. It sounds perfectly logical that all this is paid for by the school, so I can see how hard that is to sustain, particularly when considering all school sports. Let's hope you guys can find a sustainable solution for the long term, as prices may stay high for a while. I will stick to my first line: Fuel prices here are even crazier than what you see. Everything is relative.
