...and youre determined to buy football coaching materials...what do you buy and why??? DARIN SLACK SET - because there are no better coaching videos. But since I already have them.... $50 for 100 blank DVDs to copy & trade for other vids as well as cut up and distribute film of our games and/or opponents games to study. $50 in pitchers of beer to get the staff out together to go over the off-season and Summer calendar. It is amazing how much you can get done when everyone is available and can contribute. $50 for 5 Rubbermaid 33 gal trash cans for defense and 7on7. the rest would go to additional QB wrist coaches.

$200 can buy you A LOT of Wing-T material from Tom Herman. A LOT. Hours and hours of clinic talk, demonstrations, on the field action, and more.
Example: his 2007 Edinboro camp tape is $120 for 20 hours of most every Wing-T play/series you'd ever need. It is broken down into QB practice, RB practice, OL practice, and SE/WR practice.
I could buy those tapes, a couple of his line manuals, and still have money for beer and wings. Oh, and he is a great guy that will return your emails.

Super Strength from Joe DeFranco....strength coaching right?
Cones, tennis balls for various reasons.
Dry erase markers
Dry erase board.....gawd do we need a new one.
Then I think I would get the best special teams series I could get my hands on. Any suggestions?

Brophy, I will spot you $50 more for beer and that would be an even $100. If I were a line coach and did not have them, I would spend my money on boards. No question. $75 a pop and I spent $50 on the beer so I guess I would get two boards. We have a safe at the school full of Dry erase makers.

more footballs for practice. In an ideal world I would like to have at practice (among many other things): Qb's 3 each, each running back with 1, each snapper with 1, 3 for Corner coach, 3 for safeties coach, 3 for OLB coach, 3 for ILB coach, 2 for DL coach (one on a pole, one for fumble drills), WR coach with 4. And for those that are wondering, no I don't like to share

Im in the market for D-Line, Kicking and D-Backs DVDs, but havent found one I like. The one I did buy for D-line was just a DVD of a clinic presentation that didnt have many live clips or demos etc.
Ive attended a few clinic segments on these topics but not found a presenter that had a DVD unfortunately. My coaches dont come to these clinics, so I need something I can let them have and use for themselves.
I also need a bunch of half round pads as well, but my kids need better technique more than the pads just yet.
If Im starting off from scratch at the youth level, Im buying a comprehensive package if that's the question. Not a position specific DVD, Im assuming the school or program furnishes the balls, dummys, extras, we do that for our coaches here anyways.

Can schools provide these? Maybe old ones laying around in a closet?
Has anyone tried those expensive nets for passing/QB accuracy? Would they be worth it? I saw Todd Dodge at a clinic and he had good things to say about them - how much they helped in QB development and offseason work. I'd be tempted... if I were an HC with unlimited funds!

Maybe new balls so that I had enough old ones to drench in a bucket of water and let the Backs and WRs and QBs work with wet balls - at least 2x a week. We really shot ourselves in the foot this season by not working on that enough. 2 or 3 rain games and it was a disaster with fumbles, INTs, etc.
Then of course I'll use the remaining $11 to go towards a nice $5000 Telex headset package so we dont have to put up with phones going out mid-4th quarter!

And while I'm being greedy, how about a nice Gore-Tex rain suit...

I think I'd like to get the Mark Speckman videos on the fly. My old team touched on it a few years ago, but I'd like to learn it in more detail.

I will save my $200 and walk down the path that connects our high school to the college where Herm coaches Then I will take my $200 and buy a gortex outfit like said above. Even though I am in the box I hate getting wet! Serious I would buy some stuff dealing with the 3-3/3-5 def and see how I can encoporate it into our system.

I'd use it as a down payment for the Bill Williams clinic in San Diego
or
For the C.O.O.L. clinic
