We are possibly getting a new turf field in a year and our district is looking to go with the Brock in-fill which is minced up wood chips. Have any of you gone with this? I have heard it's cooler in summer but that it's not great on skinned up knees, elbows, etc.
Any feedback would be great!!

From what I understand the Brock-fill is cooler but has a tendency to pool up badly with any hard rains and has to be moved around more than the others. There is another option that is a type of cork surrounded by rubber that is cooler than normal rubber pellets without moving around quite as much. There are a ton of different options out there and it seems like everyone has differing opinions on every aspect of turf.

I wouldn't recommend it. Guys get slivers. Field is hard and doesn't give. Everyone who plays on that field in our league slips way more than normal.

We had it in Alabama. No issues, loved it. Cooler definitely

Cooler but, dries out and gets prickly. I'd go with sand.

We looked at the Brock Fill last summer when we re-did ours but didn't like the feel as much. It also seemed to shift more than the traditional sand and rubber as others have said. We decided it's better to deal with the extra heat for a few months than to have a lesser surface.
Also noticed that almost all indoor turf stadiums still use rubber. I assume because it's the best outside of the heat factor. In a few years the perfect non-rubber infill may be developed but our opinion was that as of now it still seems to be a work in progress.
We did end up getting a Brock Pad underneath for shock absorbing and have been pleased with it. Let me know if you have any other questions.
