Is the stage now set for Coach Ken and Jasper from Navy to head over to the island and takeover the Warriors??

I'm not sure they want to leave Navy. That job has come open several times while they've been at Navy but, AFAIK, they've never even been on the shortlist of candidates.
Hawaii hasn't been the same since June Jones left for SMU. I'd like to see them find a Run and Shoot guy, as that offense has become a part of the football culture all the way down to HS ball there, but I'm not sure of any who they'd look at.
We'll see who they get. With all the criticism of Graham that led to him being pushed out, I'd expect the next guy will be more of a laid back "players coac"h type. They'll probably get an Air Raid dude.

However, as a general college football fan, I'll be irate if they don't bring back the RnS. He doesn't have the resume just yet, but I could see Timmy Chang coming back at some point and running the show. |

If they go down that road, PJ should be first call. Fleck? I think he means Paul Johnson. He was OC there many moons ago when they ran a more run-and-shoot version of the Flexbone back in the late 80s. I doubt he's the kind of guy who'd come out of retirement at this point, though. |

I think if Hawaii wants to go that route, 1) Call PJ first. 2) Irvin Jasper 3) best prospective coaching candidate from Army or Navy's offensive staff. |

It will be interesting. Coach Ken cannot be too happy at Navy......it was the AD who fired Jasper as his OC behind his back w/o even talking to KN. Has to be some hard feelings......I get the feeling this will happen very soon. Would be a good fit

I don’t care what anyone says and I can’t say I’m a fan but my kid loved him and when Fleck left my guy went from on the track to big things to NAIA transfer. Kids play hard for the guy. But he does seem like he’s a guy who hires the crunk among us. |

Apparently Jones has mentioned he would be open to coming back. Well, we saw how that went… They just hired Timmy Chang as the new HC today. Journalists are reporting that the reasons Jones balked at the Hawaii job and went off on Twitter were both related to the university really wanting to set Chang up as “Head Coach in Waiting” with a job on Jones’ staff and then hand over the reigns in 2 years. I guess the AD felt it would be clever to hire Jones as a figurehead and to serve as a mentor to Chang. I haven’t followed Chang’s career too closely, but he was OC at Emory and Henry near me a few years ago before moving into the FBS as a position coach. From what little I saw and heard, the offense he ran as OC at E&H didn’t appear to be old school run and shoot and they struggled to move the ball or score points, but he was only there for a season and I’m not sure how much control he had over the offense. |
