That coach seems to have a stereotypical twitter account…. His Twitter definitely keeps it crunk for the Lord. Why do coaches always feel the need to use their wives/kids as props for pictures/interviews? In some parts of the world,being a “ family man” is prerequisite to being the hc. Not him, but just the appearance overlooks a lot of sins. |

To defend the south and I have been here for a while now. Religion is on a way different level and they definitely blur the lines of the Constitution, but I have never felt condemned by anyone for my own personal beliefs. And I am just not religious at all and don't pretend to be in anyway. I feel like people in the midwest are just as judgemental; it's just not the name of religious affiliation. |

You’d have to live down here to understand how big a deal churches and Christian organizations are in the lives of the community. In many churches, doing missionary work and actively prosthelytizing or praising God publicly is an expectation as much as an ideal. Acting that part and promoting their message wins a lot of approval, especially from people in high places, and gives you an “in” with a lot of people who share that same belief. It’s also seen as great PR and a nice way to self promote to a pretty big crowd, which will often include recruits and their families. A lot of those dudes, if they’re famous, can pull down lucrative second or third careers going around and speaking in front of Christian audiences, too. The belief isn’t that they are without sin, but that due to the Grace of Christ and their gratitude (which they express through all that showy stuff) means that their sins are all forgiven if they seriously repent. That’s why those kind of coaches keep getting second and third chances… so long as they bring in money |

My second teaching and coaching job took me to southern IL for the 2005-06 school year. After I was hired, I was meeting with the English department chair to go over a few units I would be teaching. When Night by Elie Weisel was listed, I talked about how I taught it at my first job, which included showing clips of Schindler's List. The department chair said she wouldn't show anything that was rated R if she were me, even with sending permission slips home.
I said something like, "Oh, I'm glad I asked then. It wasn't an issue at all at my last job." I still remember her response word for word even after all these years. She goes, "Mr. Wolverine55, we aren't the bible belt down here, but we're pretty close. Both in location and ideology if you know what I mean."

Johnny Majors coached quite a bit drunk don’t know how that compares to being the crunk coach though.

One coach in our area, keeps winning, keeps getting fired. He seems think it ok to administrators wives. And he keeps getting GREAT JOBS.
