Does anyone have a TEK sled? Looking to buy a new 5 man this year, and the TEK is intriguing to me. Is it worth the extra $$ vs a traditional Lev Sled? Is there more maintenance to it? What do you like or not like about it?

Can anyone who has used both comment on this? I really like the idea of the TEK sled, especially for DL. How about for OL? I'm thinking of replacing our LEV sled with a TEK sled and then passing down the LEV sled to our lower levels and want to make sure I wouldn't be losing anything significant by doing so.

Getting a TEK sled soon. It has been shipped. Will give my thoughts after Spring training.

Hey Coach, just checking back in to see if your sled arrived and if you had a chance to try it out and provide some feedback. Thanks! Wa actually coming to CoachHuey to give an update. The Tek Sled is awesome. And HUGE. If you want your team to drive it, lock down the pads. Very easy to do. We tried to drive in lift mode and struggled. Ha. We originally were going to do a 7 man sled, but the thing is so wide, we made it 5man and 2 man, which is actually even better for us because two groups can use at once. For instance, d line was using for shocking and hip extension while Edge guys were using for shock, lift, move, and escape. As already noted, very easy to adjust between the three modes. Getting the parts off the 18 wheeler ain't no joke!! Each pallet (3) was ridiculously heavy. Putting together took about 40 minutes and is actually very simple.

We have a 2-man tek sled that we use pretty regularly for both offense and defense. We don't do a whole lot of drive blocking with it like you would use a traditional lev sled for, but we get a lot of use out of the "unlocked" lift most where it can lift vertically and move side to side a bit. If you leave it locked you could very easily use it for the same purpose as a lev sled, but it's a lot heavier

Since this popped back up.
The Tek sled is really good, but it is HEAVY. I noted that on my first review, but after using for a whole season, it isn't a great sled to drive for high school.
The Lev sled is better for striking and driving. If the Lev sled is an A for striking and an A for driving, then the Tek sled is a B for striking and a C- for driving.
The ability for it to be modular and move side to side does make it worth it though.
If I had unlimited funds, I would have a Lev sled for offense and a Tek sled for defense. If I could have only one sled, I think I would go with the Tek. I think.

We purchased a 2 man Tek sled to go alongside our 5 man Brute sled a few years back. It has been a great addition for us. As others have mentioned, the Tek isn't great for striking and driving - but that's what we use the Brute for. It is great for our DL to work shock, lock, and shed though. Our DL uses it every day in their drills and it is well worth the money there - especially when we are working during the spring / summer in a non-contact practice setting. It's about as good of a simulation you can get without actually going up against another person.
