How much wind does it take to create an impact on a passing team? For example, we play a spread passing team tonight, and the forecast calls for south winds at 18-20 mph at kick-off. Is that enough wind to influence their play-calling?

Yes, I personally would limit my deep ball calls.. I would want to stick to passes that are high velocity and short in distance.. maybe 15 yards and under..

18-20? Absolutely! Thats pretty strong winds.
I would say under 10 is no biggie. But once you get at that 15MPH+ range, time to consider it a factor.

What matters is how far the ball has to travel and how high in the air it needs to go to get there. If it is a low trajectory pass like a hitch and the QB has a strong arm the effect will be minimized.

Their QB is very accurate, but he does not have a cannon arm. They like to throw 15 yd. outs, so we are going to force him to fit it into a tight window against the wind.

Aww, you guys face Sacred-Heart tonight. As you know 18-20 mph is not that bad for central Kansas, but yes it can hinder a passing attack none the less if your not use to it. The thing is the wind can gust to a range between 30-40 mph if you don't watch out. I think it will affect SH tonight some (probably throw short more), but in the grand scheme of things they should be use to it on a personal living level.
