My contribution to political correctness....

As a concerned taxpaying citizen, I would like to ask
that the following high schools/colleges all change
their names/mascots in order to avoid offending
anyone:
1. Any school with the knickname/mascot of : Knights,
Rebels, Colonels, Generals, Minutemen, Lancers,
Cavaliers, and Commodores.....you may offend former
soldiers or someone who is opposed to war. Rebels may
also be found offensive to people formerly from the
North.
2. Any school with the knickname/mascot of: Truckers,
Pilots, Packers, or Raiders.....please change your
name as soon as possible to avoid offending anyone who
may work in these fields.
3. Any school with the knickname/mascot of: Islanders,
Drifters or Crabbers.....these names may cause people
to see people from coastal or island areas in a poor
light, please change.
4. Any school with the knickname/mascot of: Colonials,
Pioneers, Chargers, Deacons, Trailblazers, Statesmen,
Governors, Presidents, Patriots, or Justices....please
change as you may be shedding a negative light on
individuals associated with those jobs/names.
5. Any school with the knickname/mascot of: Deacons,
Vipers, Dragons, Devils, Demons, Blue Devils, Red
Devils, or Sun Devils.....please respect the beliefs
of our extremely sensitive, deeply religous fans who
may be offended by your use of these symbols by your
teams/schools.
6. Any school with the knickname/mascot of:
Mountaineers, Hilltoppers, Highlanders, Rebels, or
Ridge Runners.....please change now to avoid insulting
any of our fans from the Apalachian Mountain Region of
the country.
7. Any school with the knickname/mascot of: Saxons,
Spartans, Trojans, Vikings, Irish, Fighting Irish,
Crusaders, Kings, Queens, Royals, Monarchs, Barons,
Dukes, Braves, Blackhawks, Chiefs, Warriors, Indians,
Tribe, or Patriots....using these nationalities or
ethnic groups may offend someone who hundreds or even
thousands of years ago had an ancestor in that
particular group. Furthermore, the use of titles of
royalty may belittle those who have been awarded these
titles in their own countries, or someone who's
ancestor was.
8. Any school with the knickname/mascot of: Terriers,
Pointers, Greyhounds, Bulldogs, Foxes, Gobblers,
Firebirds, Eagles, Falcons, Hawks, Ponies, Stallions,
Broncos, Mustangs, Lions, Cougars, Bobcats, Bengals,
Jaguars, Tigers, Wildcats, Dolphins, Marlins, Hornets,
Yellow Jackets, Bees, Vipers, Buffalo, Bison, Rams,
Bearcats, Bears, Bruins, Wolverines, Beavers, and/or
any other mammel/insect/living creature, real or
mythical.....PETA has ask that you immediately remove
any and all reference to these special friends, as
your using them as symbols has caused terrible damage
to their images as good and wholesome creatures who
only want to exist and be our friends.
Please add the following to the list of
knicknames/mascots that should immediately be
replaced:
9. Any school with the knickname/mascot of: G-Men,
Revenueers, Officials, Senators, Statesmen,
Presidents, Govenors, or nationals. The use of this
name implies that you are in some way, shape, or form
in the services of certain government organizations
that by their very nature are offensive to certain
groups.

Do you not realize the many groups that this
"unoffendable charm doll" could offend?! Lets look at
it:
"Billiken was a charm doll created and by an American
art teacher and illustrator, Ms. Florence Pretz of
Kansas City, Missouri, who is said to have seen the
mysterious figure in a dream. In 1908 she patented
Billiken who was elf-like with pointed ears, a
mischievous smile, and a tuft a hair on his pointed
head. His arms were short and he was generally sitting
with his legs stretched out in front of him."
1. The name "Billiken": anyone named Billy, Billi,
Billie, Willy, William, Williams, Ken, Kenny, Kennith,
Kensith, Kensignton, or Kendra could certainly say
that this is a play off of their name, and it portrays
them in a bad light and could therefor be deemed
offensive.
2. "Billiken was a charm doll": this obviously wont
do!! The religous leaders of the world could certainly
be offended by the use of such a "black magic" sort of
figure to represent anything. Why the very nature of
this voodoo type of image could cause folks around the
world to rise up against its usage.
3. "created and by an American art teacher": Why would
we only use something created by an American? Couldnt
we find a mascot created by a Canadian? A German? A
New Zealander? There are people in this country from
all over the world, and to not allow someone from
their country to have some input in the nationwide
mascot would and could certainly be offensive.
4. "who was elf-like with pointed ears, a mischievous
smile, and a tuft a hair on his pointed head": So now
we're making fun of midgets and short people?
It
could also be seen as a slap in the face to those who
have a balding head, or even those with a full head of
hair. Either way, the OBVIOUS refences to "little
people" with the use of this as a mascot would
certainly tie up the courts for years.
Just a few observations about your idea in general, in
order to keep everyone from being tied up in court so
much that they miss the games.
