Guys,
We are breaking in some new managers and are working on getting them set up for filming.
I was going to come up with a guide sheet with bullet points but figured someone might have some good tips for this.
In terms of telling managers how to film what do you guys say?
Thanks!

Both, currently our managers are a little wide with their film.
We use iPads during practice and have them film from the press box and one down on the field for endzone.
The endzone is normally fine but the press box is wider than we need.
I tell them to tighten up and zoom in a little but I've struggled in terms of what that means so we could give them some firm rules to go by.

Take the time one day to send yourself or an assistant coach up there to start the film and show them how close you want the zoom to be. Giving a bunch of rules may still lead to confusion that can be cleared up by just taking 5-15 minutes to go actually show them what you want.

As I always say and try to do, in our world of education: Explain correct performance (what to do), demonstrate (show) how to do it correctly, and give unending practice at trying to doing it correctly. I guess I'm simply saying what the previous folks have said - for reinforcement. Best of good fortune.

Biggest thing I tell them is I need to be able to see all-22 players, and the edges should be slightly wider than the RB/QB and also safetys on defense. The wide shouldn’t have the ball in the middle of the picture because the offense isn’t 10 yards behind the ball like the defense is. And if it is a pass you HAVE to zoom out so we can see all the routes. How do we do this, show them good film, either from college or NFL or other good HS film.

Get the Tailback and the Safety(s) in the frame...then widen it out a little more.
Start there and see if it's too tight or not tight enough.
