Has anyone sat in on any clinics or have connections with these guys? I’ve found enough to be very interested but nothing substantial. Anything culture wise, offense, etc I’d love to hear it. I know people have discussed their defense in depth on the defense thread. Thanks.

I'm assuming he's talking about St. Thomas in Minnesota. There have been many threads and articles about their defense.
I will say it helps if you're twice as big as the next biggest school and three times as big as the majority of the other schools in the conference. They also have the most money which means they have the best facilities, which ultimately helps in recruiting.

That's not to disparage St. Thomas, which I'd never heard of, or any other specific school. Just commenting on the advantages that some schools have in "non-scholarship" leagues.

Not many schools are smoked their competition so thoroughly that they were kicked out of the conference. The other colleges can recruit too.

I have spoken with Glenn Caruso their head coach several times. He does a great job with their program and is very intentional in their planning of how they develop players both on and off the field. Low ego guy that has always been helpful to high school coaches in my experience.

I wouldn't see why not but understand what time of year you're reaching out to them. In June those guys are on the road doing summer camps. July is their vacation time then August is go time. But I am saying Coach Caruso has always been open to high schol coaches in my experiences

I mean they’re just playing the same game that literally the entire WIAC (UW schools), Mount Union, St. Norberts, Monmouth, Linfield, Mary Hardin Baylor, Rowan, etc. play. You have “true” Division III schools (Your Lawrence U. Macalaster, Beloit College, Knox, Kenyon, Hiram, Lake Forest, Bates) and then you have schools like St. Thomas, UW-LaCrosse, UW-Whitewater, UW-Stevens Point that are paper Division IIII , but play with Division II/ borderline FCS rosters.

I've been on HS staffs that have gone into college programs March/April and have had full reign with using meeting rooms, watching film, conversing with staff, etc.... We've also gone in during spring practices and sat on position meeting, planning sessions, watched practices, etc..... Yeah summer is 'back to work' time for most college staffs.
