2 part question--the hudl sideline thread made me think of
1. as an o coach or a d coach--how do you set your other coach's eyes for what they are looking for in a game
2. how long did it take for you to be able to zoom out and see more than one area (playside ol for example---then being able to zoom out to the entire playside defensive structure)

Half and half. Always done that way. I’ll watch backside most of the time. 2. Never really have. Tbh, really no need to. Yo aren’t going to fix it Friday night. And I don’t show film to kids not having watched many times over long before. Everything I do is based on repetition. Watching and seeing it over and over. I learned I can’t see it all, no reason to try. I know my problem areas, who when where how...

I have done this in past, but it takes a very disciplined coached to "not watch the game". I havent had much success getting things from this. 2. Not sure how long, I believe some guys just see things unfold better than others or worse than others.

I try to have guys watch their position first. If all they can do is that, then that's good enough for me. It's better than them following the ball. I usually can figure things out from the other coaches talking about their position's flaws. On defense, I find that most of our mistakes are alignment, reads, or something of that nature so I get enough info.
If a guy can "zoom out", then that's extra and welcomed. We have a 30 year vet on staff who is great at that.

1- box guy watches away side, when there are multiple box guys split the front from the secondary; when I did offense it really depended on what the play was or the counter/set up play that worked off of it
2- not sure when it happened, but I always tried to look at stuff other than the ball; also once I was working on staff and learned each's need/wants or strengths/weakness, then I just tried to work on what was needed
