We have our team in squads for lifting, etc. Things are getting a little stale and we want to ramp it up by creating competition. Those of you that have a point system for this type of thing what are you giving points for?

Those of you that have a point system for this type of thing what are you giving points for? Have been at places that have done this before (successfully). Utilized the following criteria, if I remember correctly: 1) Pct increase in maxes & times 2) Maxes & times 3) Workouts attended. For this, we counted all practices participated in while in another sport. For example, if you played baseball we didn't want to hurt your workout team (and force a rift between the two sports). So your baseball practices attended count towards your workouts attended.

We used this and we tried to incorporate the "whole" student-athlete, not to be cliche. Things we included for points were:
Grades Attendance(football and School, tardies were counted as well) Attending other Sports games Maxes and Competitions Community Service Opportunities Extra Physical activity(this would be running, skills training, lifting with video evidence)
The teams that really wanted to win obviously would because they took full advantage of gaining the extra points when they could.

Never did it as a squad, it was all individual, but I'm sure you could adapt it. I loved the points system. I think it was the basis of our success.

Set different bench Marks. 1. perfect attendance, i take you out for dinner, your choice. 2.our o-line coach is huge on pancakes, as he believes that if you are using perfect technique you can rack up pancakes fast, that comes from weight room, that results in bonus points, t-shirts, hats, drinks, food, whatever, and its out of his pocket...... and helmet stickers. 3. Our best lifters, strongest, will find their names on a weight room wall for at least a year.

And most of them are from traps. Man on man pancakes? There's probably less than 5.

One does not get the pancakebecause the defender falls down or tries to create a pile ot loses his balance. I am lucky enough to have mentor who understands progressions, fundies. I have seen more athletes that are well coached and on the offensive line than most., much less overall. I have seen lines that win ships where I cringe. I work in bfe ghetto USA. I coach in uppityville with regards line fundies and progression. Most have it just the opposite. I just used the reward thingy I know as example.
