Social media is toxic. I've tried to ask/answer some scheme questions on Twitter and Facebook just to get ripped. Keyboard warriors. Well we’re they bad questions/answers? That sh!t happens here as well and it’s usually earned Watching videos of a pretty good Gun Wing T team run their Bucksweep. On a few plays, I notice a 9 tech giving the WB problems on the down block and messing with the timing of the BSG's pull. It's a highlight film so the back still goes big but he's outrunning his blocker. So I post: "How do you guys handle a 9 tech coming up field hard?" The response I get from the OP "Our WBs can handle most 9 techs we see on the Bucksweep. If they can't, we don't run it." So, he's answered the question, I don't feel that there's going to be a productive conversation and I tap out. Another coach, however, doesn't feel that way and posts a video of his team running Down from the gun. And the chit storm ensues and five coaches are arguing over a) how expensive Down is, b) why it is or isn't necessary to have an answer to an aggressive DE, c)how a bubble handles aggressive DEs (WTF?) d) why gun Wing T coaches shouldn't call themselves Wing-T. And on and on.

It's not the college coaches thing I mean I get some of that but also it's kind of their job so.... Yeah the culture guys can get a bit out of hand, I'm a big character guy and we have a great program we use that's real laid back. It's more of like when a coach posts like you wont win with this type of kid because blahh blahh blahh then guys go nuts WHAT DID YOU DO FOR THE KID? DID YOU SIT DOWN AND TALK TO HIM? YOU FAILED HIM! FIND OUT THE PROBLEM!! Like yeah I am sure they have done all that but sometimes it is what it is... I feel like it's almost become a no blame for the player deal with these guys or lets do some restorative justice with the kid...then watch them steal a bike on their way out of school or start a fight. Some people are just turds no matter what. Well, if they’re saying absolving the kid of blame is restorative practices then they don’t get how restorative practices work and they are in the “enablers” quadrant. If they’re doing it right, yes you sit down with the kid and explain why their behavior isn’t right and then explain what they need to do to make amends, if possible. Somethings you can’t make amends for by staying on a team, say a kid steals from a teammate the best way for them to learn might be to get cut from the team. You hear them out and see what the root cause of the problem is, but restorative practices aren’t giving someone a carte blanche to whatever they want. Your position would be closer in line to actual restorative practices - talk and hear them out, give them a chance to make amends if possible, or teach them that there is accountability for actions and sometimes you lose things you love if you can’t control your behavior.

I did a clinic for someone once and used 4-5 good reps and 2-3 bad reps and someone said "you can't even run this play but you're teaching it" uh... yeah and if you unmute you'll hear me coaching up the corrections, slappy! I love social media and think it's important to 'keep up with tech/times' if you're in the job market but it can be a headache. The real talent is ignoring the dingle nuts

Oh... I've had other situations where I've asked a question/posted a response and the trolls rolled out.
On a Wing-T page, a coach asked what series he should install with a 10-year old youth squad. Here is the gist of what transpired:
Me: "I would go with the Buck and Belly series and Down Dive. Buck sweep, Buck Trap, Waggle, Belly Dive, Belly Sweep, Belly Waggle and then your basic down-down-kick Down Dive."
Coach A: "You'll never be able to run those plays at the youth level. Too much pulling."
Coach B: "Have you ever even coached youth ball? Those are high school Wing-T plays. You can't run it with fourth graders."
Me: "We've run those two series and won many games with fourth graders. But, to each their own."
Coach A: "No you haven't. I've coached youth for ten years and I've never been able to get kids to pull."
Me: "Okay. If the OP isn't comfortable coaching pulling, he can always run Ted Seay's youth Wing-T. It's a simple Wing-T scheme with no pulling. Here's the link to his website: ______."
Coach B: "I can coach pulling, the kids can't do it until they hit high school."
Coach A: "Our local high school runs Wing-T and they don't even pull."
Me: "Okay. _____ ______ (the OP), if you want some more info, feel free to DM me."
Coach A: "_____ _____ (the OP) coachcb doesn't know youth ball, ignore him."
Needless to say, I tapped out on the the thread. The OP never got a hold of me and, since then, has posted multiple questions about the Wing-T and Harry and Lloyd give him all kinds of bad info.
