We are wanting to update our locker room. Our floor is currently tile, but It’s a little worn out. We are just getting some ideas for other flooring from people. We love the look of some of the SEC locker rooms, like Auburn but it is carpet and we assume that it will get really gross with turf pellets grass and dampness. We also kind of like the idea of rubber matting, but we know we can get wet underneath and very gross and that concerns us. I have seen people on the boards here talk about epoxy or some kind of rhino lining Just trying to get some ideas of what people have used, how long they last and how durable they are or slick if wet wet.

As with most things.... it depends.
I would prefer a heavy duty carpet, but you have to work to keep it clean. As long as you have someone that vacuums it daily and you regularly clean it; it should hold up well and looks nice. You can help keep it clean if you have some shoe dogs outside the locker room door (that would be true for any surface). It will give you the nicest look, but you have to be smart about the color scheme and it has to be the high quality stuff.
The rubberized/rhino type floor is a tough durable flooring option but you still have to vacuum it to keep the dust/dirt down. You can't sweep that stuff. It looks more 'industrial' but will hold up over the long run. If you want something that takes the least amount of maintenance then I'd go with this.
I'd never put tile down. In our old building we had the old school 12" tile squares. It looked good, was easy to clean/rewax. But we had to have a policy (and police the policy) of no cleats in the building b/c of all the slips and falls players would have if they wore their cleats in the building.
I have no opinion on the epoxy b/c I've never used it before.

Tile is too slippery, the rubber mats hold up but are impossible to lift the fine particulate of dirt up, carpet is easier to clean and allows for traction. We did not police the locker room when it was carpet and every 5 years or so we were replacing it. Still I think I would want the carpet back over the rubber Mats as it never truly looks clean after you are done mopping

We used the carpet squares as our flooring. Is it the best no, but it does the job. It also allows for us to changed out a spot that might get more wear and tear vs. having to replace the entire area. As for cleaning, we have a janitor that comes and cleans every other day and our players clean every Thursday. The players have to take their cleats off before they enter the locker room after practice, which also helps cut down on the dirt tracked in.

Re-did a locker room a few years back. We got a floor that was poured---anti-bacteria, non-slip, beautiful and long lasting. I'm sorry I can't give you better details than that but it was fantastic. Not cheap, but worth the investment. Can do colors....we were black and gold and did a black with a gold fleck in it.

Those are good... similar to the rubberized type flooring but depending on the finish it can be much easie to clean/sweep/vacuum. I didn't think about these epoxy finishes. They be both tough and easy to clean.

Super tough--wear cleats on it without slipping--and really easy to keep clean. It's been there about 7-8 years now and still looks like the day it was put in.
