Have any of you experienced being overly tired after you've been watching film? If so, how have you combated that?
I'm not over the hill yet, but I'm not quite a spring chicken either. I don't remember ever needing a nap after watching film but the past couple of years I've felt that way.

Watch half of game, take a break (at least an hour), then come back to it later.
In Off-Season I might watch first half one day, second half next-another day.

I would wager it's not the film watching making you tired. It's probably your lack of sleep from the rest of your life catching up to you when you sit still.

How do you watch film? If I watch on my phone or iPad on the couch, I'll get tired. I can sit on my computer all night and watch film though.

Happens to me too. As larrymoe said it's just life catching up. Even happens when we watch with the team, which is why I don't sit down. Totally saps the life out of me watching film before practice. I also have young kids so I don't watch film until after they're in bed anyway if I'm at home. If I knock out at that point in the day it's totally fine.

I typically watch it on my desktop or put it up on a projector and watch it on the wall. I can't watch it on my phone or my kid's iPad. For some reason I don't get a full sense of what the film is showing.

If I have a notebook, yellow pad, hudl open, I am fine. I don’t watch casually on purpose. I am with moe on the life catching up part. I sit down and watch tv?💤

It seems too logical for me to believe that but, yeah, I think you're right. I find that any time I sit down and fall asleep there's a lot of 5s and 6s in my sleep history hours. When I don't fall asleep sitting, there's a lot of 7s, 8s and 9s.

Second larrymoe with regards to sleep. The only other addition I have is to ask how're your eyes? I have pretty good vision, but if I'm spending a lot of time looking at screens, my eyes get tired and that means I get tired. I have some pretty mild prescription reader glasses that do a lot to prevent this.

Also, does watching film just bore you?
I used to like it, but I've been here for six years and we don't have a lot of staff turnover at our school or elsewhere in the conference really. There's nothing that anybody that we play is really doing that we haven't already seen them do. It makes me kind of disinterested honestly.
We have one of our biggest rivals with a new HC this coming year though, and another in the conference who turned over their staff last year and will be in year two with their new systems, so finally should see some different things.

I actually enjoy watching film way more in the offseason than season. I don't watch much this time of year...20-30 minutes a week tops. But, during the season, it just feels like one more thing you HAVE to do and it's genuinely one of my least favorite parts of coaching.

Watching film always bored me. It's usually not too hard to pretty quickly pick up what a team's trying to do. I never could figure out how people watched hours and hours of it.

I want to be as prepared as possible and put my guys in a situation to win, but it’s for sure my least favorite part. I’ll watch college All 22 and NFL stuff during the off-season and I enjoy that. Always pick up something new. But watching my team or our opponents? Can’t stand it unless again it’s during the off-season and I’m just self evaluating or something.

Coffee, redbull, dip, monster, that's the healthiest and most common way!

I wish that was my film-watching problem.
Playing our schedule...I get so scared I have to sleep with the lights on.

Coffee, redbull, dip, monster, that's the healthiest and most common way! Chew and Cherry Pepsi for me. But I have quit chewing since Covid. We just started our spring season so we'll see how that goes. The late night chew and film session was such a great part of my day in the past.

I'm much more worried about when we have to start breaking down opponents and those marathon film sessions.

During season, I spend every spare second watching film. Drives my wife nuts, because I'm not paying attention to Grey's anatomy or whatever she has on the TV.
During the off-season, I can't stomach watching film. I get ticked off after watching 10 minutes.

I don't watch college football unless it is the academies I have never watched pro football to marvel at scheme---I just appreciate the freakiness---but don't care who wins and easily turn it off or easily never even turn it on also

I'm not going to lie: if I had to brew coffee with Bang just to stay awake to watch film, I would just simply not watch film, lol!

Game prep does nothing for me as currently constituted. I’ll watch anything otherwise.
