Has anyone used a transfer wheel line marker on their football field to paint the lines on a natural grass field? We are using the aerosol can system at a middle school and we are looking for alternatives to that method without spending a 1.5 - 4K on a machine.

Haven't used that but Here is another option that may be cheaper pioneerathletics.com/starlinerI have used this to varying success. Obviously, you get what you pay for and the school bought this to line soccer fields away from the main campus, but I have gotten some good lines out of this machine. Like any paint machine it can be finicky, and it is well worth doing what you can to keep all the parts as paint free as possible. Something to consider. |

Idk but I wonder if there is a lot of waste in that box. There has to be a bladder in there. I always liked the 5 gallon buckets.

A minimal field ( no hash marks but 5 yard lines) takes me about 12-15 cans. If we do a really complete job with good thick multiple pass lines to get a good width then I am looking at about 21 cans so it takes about a box plus a can or two for a functional field without tick marks and skinny yard lines. Does the 2.5 box cover a complete field is a great question along with does the charge on the battery last long enough to do a field with numbers? |

Haven’t used the machine or had to paint a field in a few years. But I believe it was about a case and a half for a soccer field. When I did the football field it was one of the big gasoline powered sprayers. Mixing the 5 gallon buckets with water. And yes, There is a plastic bladder inside the cardboard box. |
