I wasn't totally sure where to put this, but we're a running team and this is an offensive concept.
We want to go no huddle next year. We are a spread gun option team, both one back and two back. I need to develop a system to call our formations from the sideline, and get our team lined up. Then, when we see how the defense aligns, I'd like to call the play from the sideline.
I was hoping that some of you could describe your no huddle systems so I could develop my own. I'm looking for something simple. Also, I was wondering if wrist bands are the way to go, or if signalling is easier. The more in depth you can get, the better off I'll be.
Thanks so much in advance!

When I played in college every offensive player had a wristband and the OC simply called in the number. That worked well and it was easy.

Using the wristband system is a great way to go. In fact, I will be using it on defense next year. No huddle defense. What a concept! It all depends on what you want though. Do you want each player to know his specific responsibility only? Or will you put in the entire play call on your players' wristbands?

I would just put the name of the play on the band

I'vve done it two ways:
1)Put the play on there. Works fine and they still have to learn the plays. You just don't always get the speed out of it if you were trying to run an Indy concept.
2)Have also told them what to do. For WR's we would put Right-9, which would mean line up on the right and run a Go. Works well in Indy situations, but they don't always run the play.

I signaled the formation. pointed to strength (right/left).
Also I developed a signal and audible for all main run and pass concepts.
I also developed a hand signal for pass routes...good way to remind knuckleheads or tag a WR.
I went to wristbands by game three, the scout team knew all signals and audibles...
I kidded with the players that I was making them my "human play station game"
email me for my sheet...
